Forgive me if its obvious and I just don't know it, but which army sees the least amount of play these days?

I'm sure it varies from place to place, but the answer is probably Adepta Sororitas (Sisters of Battle).

My guess would be Sisters of Battle. Err.. Adepta Sororitas I think they are called these days.. Codex is digital download only meaning you need a smartphone or pad or laptop to bring it with you and the models are expensive metal models. Both combined makes it a rare army.

Funny how I come back to 40k and those armies still see very little love. Thanks for the feedback guys!

Space Squats

I can see it now....Nids are now a collection of autonomous hive fleets there are multiple Hive Minds and they all war with one another in addition to everyone else. They speak to humans using telepathy, and they can now ally with Space Wolves as battle brothers, because reasons.
Tyranids talking to humans would be like you talking to your mashed potatoes or the probiotic in your kiefer drink. It is neither possible nor productive.
Inside my mind I pinched my nipples and savored his bitter silence.

I have 36 of them. Organized into an IG Platoon with PCS. Each squad has a GL and a SGT. I call em the Mawloc killers because they took one down after a great FRFSRF order. In the appendix of the BRB it says that Squats (Homorotundus) are one of the few sanctioned Abhuman strains....that gave me enough fluff reason to dust them off.

I've never played against DE or 6th edition eldar or tau (I know?!?!?!), but I have played against SOB a few times, so I can't really stay them

Locally it's imperial guard, I know of one regular player who spams Russ variants, I think the big turn off is the sheer numbers in a 'real' guard army

I'm ignoring sisters obviously

Over all, Sisters. As stated above, metal models, lack of paper codex. If you don't have them already, it costs way more to make a sizable army.

Orks to me, in various areas. It has an entire plastic range, it is a rather easy army to play, however, the current codex is horrible in 6th. Also, just the sheer size and amount of models is a turn off. Same can be said for guard and nids, in relation to model ammount.

Locally where I play (I have been deployed for a while), it seems to be DE or Chaos Demons.

The thing that appeals to me about guard is that even though they have a lot of models, they're actually very fast to paint as long as you don't get tied up in some complicated scheme. They're a "big brush" army, you can paint 90% of the models with a big huge brush and pump out 10-20 of them in an afternoon.

I have seen every army (including the Imperial Inquisition (which I was not expecting)) except Sisters played in my store.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

That's true, though there isn't a lot of variety in my uniform force, so the tanks etc become inevitable for a break from painting hundreds of the same model

Sisters. Even at Nova I think there were only like three people playing them, and I've only met one other AS player between the stores here in NC. I love playing them but they're just so expensive to start an army and you can't get models for some of their options. Even their used prices are steep, second hand Exorcists go for close to retail as do all the heavy and special weapons.

What's unappealing about them? Fliers excluded, they're actually a pretty strong codex.

Also, talljosh, which options don't we have models for?

I'd say sisters aswell.

My friend was going to buy one he calculated 1000 points would be 500 pounds, he then decided to by an old army of another of our friends instead.

First we complain about not having a proper codex, now we complain about not having a paper codex although I agree with it, just find humor in it. Only models I can think of we don't have options for(model wise) is any Combi-weapons(flamer, melta, plasma, Condemner Boltgun). old OOP cannoness had 3/4 of those but not anymore on the current model. Also Inferno pistols for Serephim. There are others, just cant think of them right now.
