So it's completely fine to make offensive jokes about religion, politics, etc but once sexism is involved YOU HAVE HURT MY FEELINGS AND GONE TOO FAR. Of course not everybody even agrees with those first two, and they don't sound like very fun people to be around because they are apparently too mature for such "base" humor and only enjoy enlightened humor unknown to common peasants. I'm not saying OP's joke was even funny, I'm just saying that some people will find anything to be self righteous about.

Oh internet feminism, you so crazy.

To get this thread back on topic, there is an LGS in my area that offers "comic books, trading cards, and board games" but ALSO features "martial arts classes". So you can learn how to kick ass IRL while you kick ass with your plastic space men, lol. I wish I still had the picture but apparently I deleted it from my phone. The place is always closed when I'm in the area though, I think it's out of business.

I don't see that store lasting long. Women start to feel uncomfotable with the stares and will go somewhere else.

There are certain businesses you don't put in a place that has a shared entrance. That is one of them.

My LGS has since changed locations but it used to be adjacent to a tanning salon that seemed to have younger women (ranging in age from teens to thirty-somethings) patronizing it. The two stores shared a parking lot and both had main entrances leading from the parking lot. On occasion I would see customers of each shop staring awkwardly at one another as they entered their respective stores.

It was amusing to witness, but nothing was as glorious as the one time the LGS' role playing elements were outside taking a smoke break as a group of tanners left their salon. The wild gestures and exclamations produced by the role players as they discussed their campaign drew some really memorable reactions from the tanning customers. It was like learning the definition of the word disgust merely by reading a person's facial expression.

A lot of people that play this game are morons who can't even be the boss of themselves. I think the statement that one day they'll be the ladies boss is inaccurate. Remember that geek is not equal to nerd.

Nothing like a little sexism to spice up the thread.

What an...odd...location for a lingerie store to decide to set up in. Somehow I imagine that this turn of events won't harm the LGS's business at all, but that it might not be as economically beneficial for the other party.

And all this talk of white knighting and counter-white knighting! Sheesh, people! Can't well all just be happy nobody's started Grey Knighting yet?

Since all the white knights feel like ignoring the topic and flaming at the sexist comment I'll explain our FLGS's sense of humour.

When we hear an offensive joke we dont laugh at it because we think "oh thats funny cuz women are worse than men har har" we laugh because they are so offensive as in "oh wow that jokes terrible haha" like one time someone said "as MLK once said 'ouch I've been shot'" and we had a good laugh because that is such a horrible joke not because MLK's assassination was funny (and it wasn't)

Who the hell shops for underwear in chain stores these days?

I'd point and laugh just out of spite. Use the internet if you want to buy some peek-a-boo undies with the hello kitty picture on your ass. Just like I buy my speedo's online, as I'd rather not have to subject the public to my odd taste in undergarments. Have some respect! lol

I would if I was into that stuff and was a woman if you can make peek a boo hello kitty undies work why not go to a store just to show off I know I would (then again if I were a woman I would be a huge tease )

I agree. So how do we go about telling those lingerie shoppers that they're being offensive?

The fact you are sexualising other women buying clothes is a you problem, not them being offensive. Unless those shoppers are actually saying something offensive I missed.

Just a word to the wise: don't go there looking like crap, carry yourself well at all times and keep up your physical maintenance. Eventually you're going to get a group of curious young girls who are socially outgoing walking in there just to see what it's about - perhaps out of random boredom or they heard some other chicas next door talking about all the weird guys in the next building and they want to see what it's about, as they feel perfectly safe in small packs of friends to do that sort of stuff.

Try to look good, shave, keep the hair kempt and smell nice. You don't want to give your spot a bad name, and you might be the one they come talk to. I friggin' WISH my LGS was next door to a lingerie store. With my good looks and supreme physique, I'd be living at that location - my two main interests all rolled up in one structure!! So lucky!!

I have absolutely no clue what you're on about, nobody was sexualising anything in this entire thread to my notice. What we have is a group of stuck-up shoppers who feel embarrassed/threatened by the proximity of nerds. That's the offensive part in this whole situation.

Yep, this guy hit it on the nose, and once you have one good interaction, the store will be flooded with young ladies looking to be social and to get the latest codex

Interesting store location choice. Sounds like somebody didn't properly research there new store location. I would find it highly amusing. Being married it wouldn't bother me any although I might pop in looking for something for the misses. You get the stuck up ones turning up their noses or the shy ones embarrassed that boys are seeing you buying underwear. Then you have the boys stumbling and bumbling about because there are girls in the vicinity. Yes, very amusing.

I would imagine the games take a bit long to finish what with all the distractions. Just tell the shop owner to tell his customers its ok their more scared of you then you are of them and that your just seeing them in their natural habitat.

My flgs is in one of the most convenient places now since next door is a pizza place and a bar that share a door and across the street are many other fast food joints and now we have a lingerie store, the area just keeps getting better and better for us.
