Great looking savage orcs! €25 for 20. (For reference, the GW ones are €23 for 10, these are nearly half the price)

Shieldwolf Miniatures in collaboration with Renedra Ltd is proud to announce the release of it’s first plastic set of Mountain Orcs and it’s up for pre-orders.

Definitely aimed at GW customers, there's a big stabba included on the sprues. Really like the look of these, they're properly brutal-looking.

EDIT: Found some better pics on facebook, the ones on the webstore are bad.

They look interesting but it's kinda hard to see the detail in the pics. Need some solo minis unpainted.

Best pics I could find of solo minis:

Bases are 25mm, to give some idea of scale.

Excellent for filling units.

The detail is a bit soft for front ranks though, imo, and if they were to be mixed with GW orcs, they'd all need headswaps.

I like the face - it looks suitably monstrous. I reckon that if you gave the ears a trim and painted them right, they'd make a good Wendigo-like monster. Normal skin tone on the body, blood on the face.

They do look a bit soft. I would like to see a close up of the sprue. The look otherwise is fine. More brutal and monstrous than comedy orcs.

If the lower is a box cover they do need to get a better graphic designer. The illustration is fine, but the rest?

I'll agree too

neat look but a little soft, but very hard to tell if that's the painting or the underlying plastic

I'd also like to see how the sprue breaks down

They look like a mix of GW and Rackham Orcs to me - nicely done!

wow, after these and Mantic's great orc design, GW is looking not only ridiculously expensive, but the worst looking of the lot.

Definitely agree on the Rackham style.

I would assume since the images are grainy and out of focus, the paint and miniatures would look a little grainy and out of focus, too.

Those are definitely very savage looking. I also think the picture quality could be the reason why some are having issues with the details.

Looking at them, they'd match Mantic stylistically (similar proportions). Maybe not in the same unit, but they'd not look out of place in the same army at all.

The tooling is done by Renedra so there really is no chance in hell that the details on them will be soft.

And yeah, I'm seriously eyeing up using them as Mantic Morax since they're a bit cheaper than the hybrid metals. It'd be a useful extra source of bitz as well (especially the command).

I like them, I guess, but the paint jobs and photos don't show them off very well. I don't currently own any savage orcs for my large orc and goblin army, so I might pick some up- the price is quite nice.

Still, not sure about them without better photos.

Their lines look interesting- the trolls they have are very distinctive.

I think I have enough Orcs from the KoW Kickstarter, but if they made a set of Orc archers, I'd be all over them.

Judging from the images found here the sprues look rather sharp and good. Would still like to see close ups of the heads. I still can't understand how one can spend thousands of £ for renedra tooling and not spend some money on descent photos and graphic design though.

They look quite interesting, not 100% sure on the faces but I'll probably pick up a box at that price to see what their like. A sprue shot would be great and a much better promotional tool. It'll be interesting to see if they expand the range with more plastics.

ah the sprue looks pretty good.

great idea for the Morax, SS. i'm thinking fight wagons and chariot crew, though, so i don't have to cut off the integral bases on the Mantic orcs

would like to see the 'command sprue' as well, with the banner and horn and whatever other fun bits come on it (loved the Avatars of War plastic berserkers and their command sprue)

You could probably make some great axes using those spear/pole arms.

Bit of info on the company for those interested.

Shieldwolf Miniatures is the largest 28mm scale miniature producer in the Balkans and in continuous growth. It is specialized in the Fantasy World it has set up and it is one of the very few companies worldwide producing groups of interchangeable minis (regiments) apart from single-item miniatures.

From the very beginning we released (and will continue releasing) a variety of models. Those will be Regiments, but also Characters, Monsters, Great Monsters and lots more. In the meanwhile our Sculpting Teams (both Traditional and 3D) are continuously creating new and exciting models to capture you. This is done by allowing as much freedom as possible to -what we consider- some of the best concept artists in this sector. The Shieldwolf Casting Team uses only supreme quality resin and is continuously improving our methods of production, so to always ensure stock is available and customers receive their orders as fast as humanly possible. In 2014 the company will hit hard plastic production. All this is master-coordinated by Dott. Angelos Margaritis, whose passion for fantasy led him to the creation of Shieldwolf Miniatures.

Definitely. They look like crude halberds, which basically functioned as spears with a hafted blade for chopping. That's what I'm thinking for Kings of War, as Orc Gore Chariots have crew with great weapons and the Orc Fight Wagons have crew with multiple hand weapons. It looks like, with two per four guys, half the box can have the halberds.

Yeah, definitely! Renedra is expensive so they'll have to make back their tooling costs, but I'm definitely getting a box of these when they get released.

It's definitely growing on me, the idea of front rank of GW for WHFB and then 4 or 5 ranks of mantic or this company's work. Their northern barbarians for example, instead of GW marauders.
