Greetings, I've finally had a moment to catch up after midterms- and Spring break is laden with treasures coming down the pipeline from Shark Mounted Lasers! First- Tomorrow we'll be releasing our Modular Road Tiles for use in modern/sci-fi wargames. Coming in 30mm and 12" varieties they'll make your table even more realistic. At $8 dollars each they'll be a steal! (Not only that, but we're the only company that uses formaldehyde free, 100% recycled MDF! That's sure to make the wife approve of this gaming purchase!) Stay tuned on http://www.facebook.com/sharkmountedlasers tomorrow for updates and maybe even a discount In other news, the train should be pulling up to station sometime this week, and will be available for sale! Finally, it wouldn't be a SML post without a teaser... Introducing "The Pit."

Nice work on The Pit. What sort of file format do you use to make these, something like DXF where you just draw what you want in AutoCAD or one of those annoying milling code formats?

Maybe?! Working primarily on 28mm right now. Once I graduate, I'll likely have time to expand into other scales.

Aye, we're located in Denver Colorado! Shipping to the United States is going to be around $15 for a full tables worth.

I've been looking for some affordable Cityfight roads for my table, and these look very cool. My only concern is that the roads look a bit narrow for 40K vehicles, but that might just be me misunderstanding the dimensions/scale.
The tiles are 12"x12", correct? That would make the roads on your CAD files look around 2" wide. Chimeras are over 3 1/2" wide, Rhinos are a shade over 3", and Land Raiders are around 6" wide. Would these fit?
As long as it doesn't violate copyright, some scale shots with vehicles and minis from various manufacturers would be awesome
Edit: Looking again, the digital files may be representing 4'x4' tables of 16 tiles. That would make the roads approximately 4" wide, correct?

Armyman,
I believe you are looking at the Cad file wrong. Those look like 16 different tiles lined up to show the possible configurations. By the example picture, the roads look to be about 1/3 wide of the tile - so 4 inches.
@Shark,
These look great. Would definitely appreciate some more pictures of the roads soon than later as the T5 road tile kickstarter ends tonight!

How does PDF sound?! Haha, it's all drafted two-dimensional.

Tiles look great
But, yeah I'm only looking for 15mm stuff now. Will definitely be interested if/when you get around to that.
How easy/hard would it be to just shrink your art down 50% and use 6" squares rather than 12? You could sell em in packs of 4 so they still have the 12" square foot print

I'm thinking you could use the same tiles for 15's and make them 4-lane roads... since they're so cheap you could always order a couple to test out

Wow, those are awesome! Do you know how many variations of tile you're going to make? Also, any full table packages? Or just the very very reasonable $8 a tile?
Oh, and on a tangent, how much for a plain jane tile, to make rural pieces for an edge of town feel? Or have you thought about a river bed like you've done with the roads, or even a canal, as that would be more consistently straight than a riverbed. Anyway, these look great, and I am definitely in the market for a tables worth of board, though I too hope to see a 15mm or smaller scale, as a lot of smaller scale games are coming out soon! Doug,
All SML would have to do is make the center divider a solid line, do dashed inside of that, and not put the direction arrows. Very simple fix, save it as a secondary file. This would give very big avenues of approach for your models, in a realistic "big city" urban environment. Just plunk down buildings.

We have 15 tiles currently on the website (They just went live!!!) www.sharkmountedlasers.com
Make sure to check us out of Facebook if you haven't already! www.facebook.com/sharkmountedlasers
In addition, I'll be adding an additional 3 "Garden" tiles up later today.
In terms of "Plain Jane" do you mean completely free of any engraving?
As for you question about canals and such...
We have aqueducts, sewers, canals and raised street platforms all coming down the pipe eventually.
You can see the raised highway system in the background of this image.

Yes, just a plain 12x12 square that would match with the rest, to make some dirt or hills or a river on, to go with some 15mm terrain.
However, I must say that I am blown away by the sewer board. Is there a way to get into the sewers from the road level? A levee or anything else that opens up to the board. Great looking stuff!
