Subject: 3000 points Tyranids vs White Scars w/ Imperial guard Allies

Going to be playing a big game with a buddy of mine soon. He's not exactly a WAAC player, but he really really really likes to win. I've stretched myself pretty thin on models, so I can't really deviate from what I have too much. Wish I had some gargoyles cause I would really like to try them out. Here's what I'm bringing:
HQ:
(warlord) Hive Tyrant- stranglethorn cannon, miasma cannon, 2 Tyrant Guard
Flyrant-TL Brainleech Devourers, Hive Commander
ELITES:
3 x Zoanthropes
3 x Zoanthropes
1 Venomthrope
TROOPS:
Tervigon- Regen, Crushing Claws, Shreddershard Beatles
30 Termigants- 20 Fleshborers, 10 Spinefists
4 Warriors- all w/ Deathspitters, 3 Lash and Bone, 1 Rending Claws
FAST:
Harpy-Acid Blood
Hive Crone
5 x Spore Mines
HEAVY:
2 x Carnifexen- Adrenal Glands
Mawloc
Mawloc
FORMATIONS:
Lictor Forest Brood- 5 Lictors
Living Artillery Node- Exocrine, 3 x Biovores, 3 x Warriors (1 Barbed Strangler)
I know the Forest Brood isn't very loved on the web but I just love being able to deep strike a huge unit of Lictors behind tanks, without scatter, and letting loose with 10 str 6 rending shots. The Tervigon is going to be outflanking and going armor hunting with it's crushing claws. Mawlocs will be units behind Aegis Lines set up with quad guns, and if they aren't there then aiming for Bikers all the way. Last time I faced this guys White Scars he had 2 very large units of Bikes. He's been sending me pics of the Imperial Guard tanks and Vendettas that he has been painting up, so maybe I don't have enough AA. Thinking about dropping something in order to take a bastion or aegis with a quad gun myself. What are people's thoughts?

Lictors don't have rending shots anymore I'm afraid :(
Unless that formation gives them rending

You are absolutely right. I missed that, thanks. It's good to know so I don't accidently cheat in the game.

3000 usually means double FOC, if so I think you would be happier with 3 Broods of Zoeys x2 each....I would look for a better upgrade than Acid Blood on the Harpy...

I would think acid blood would pretty much be an auto-include considering on the charge it makes it's enemies Initiative 1. What other biomorphs would be better?
Also I'm not really a fan of double FOC. I've played around with different lists trying it out but can never seem to build anything that I like.
I've been toying with the idea of dropping the Forest Lictor Brood to take 1 or 2 Vengeance Weapon Batteries with Quad Icarus Lascannons. I would still want to take a brood of Lictors though. Decisions decisions. 3 Lictors cost the same as 2 VWB and then I would have an extra 100 points left over but I'm not sure what I would spend it on. Maybe just padding the units of warriors? A unit of Genestealers with a Broodlord?

if you drop the Regen thats 45 pts, maybe Bioplasma for the Carnifexen? With double FOC you Must have: 2 HQ, and 4 Troops...I think you can do that, and now you have 6 slots under Elite to space out the Zoeys, more Synapse coverage, and an extra roll for "Powers of the Hive Mind!"
If you're going single Foc it looks "OK" .... You might also look at buying Glands for the Mawlocs? Not "must have", but might be "nice to have"

Glands for the Mawlocs? They will most likely never assault during the game. I feel like this would be wasted points. The Bioplasma is a neat idea, I don't normally use it but it could be a nasty surprise.
Double FOC for me at this points level would just be maybe adding some Tyranid Primes or some Genestealers. I really have stretchced myself thin on models. I don't have any more Hive Tyrant models laying around and I'm not sure what I would want to drop in order to fit the Primes in.

Like I said "nice to have", not "must have" on the Gland(s)...though if you did gland its more likely you would use it. Its better than leaving points unspent. I see it as adding an option, that might not have been there before.
When I Mawloc! something, I just might crawl over and smash something shiny instead of burrowing under....maybe I want to contest a VP point, and kill the holding unit while I'm hanging out...? (or tangle up a bothersome artillery piece, that would do the Hive, some harm while I'm burrowing...)
