Seeing as how I seem to spend far too much time checking out what's up and coming on Kickstarter, and seeing as how everyone loves the News and Rumor section to be clogged up with KS info, I figured it's time for another one since nobody else has put this one up.
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/701653685/fireteam-zero-a-game-of-tactics-horror-and-cool-mi
A game of Weird War 2 meets eldritch stuff that needs to be killed. Lots of figures. Simple pledges. Stretches and Add ons add all sorts of weird stuff.
Prices:
75- Base game
145- Base game, 2 expansions, and stretch goals
350- Everything plus all add ons available (WW2 MINEFIELDCART)
I'll let you figure out what makes it awesome. The GI Joe style filecard certainly is.
Here's a shot of the base game. Note that there are more figures included.
Here's what a War Chest pledge gets you currently:

Surely that is gi joes Fiirefly from the late 1980's?? Looks very similar, into demolitions, even as you say with the gi joe card......
Interesting idea for a game. Might take a look.

The card looks like Beachhead, from G.I. Joe. At least on the datafile card.

That's a good thing it terms of drawing my interest, and a bad thing since I just spent more than my gaming budget and justifying more spending will be hard.

I was thinking Beachhead, but now that you mention it with the demolitions, yeah, I can see where you're coming from with the Firefly reference.
Automatically Appended Next Post: So the latest update has some new add ons that are automatically included in the 350 Warchest (minecart) pledge.
There's already a set of variant figures included with that pledge, but now there's also female variants.
Kind of cool. With the big money pledge you've got 3 figure variations for each role...
Which you can then use on these new map locations, which allow for multiple teams to go through.
Reading a bit more into it, it seems as if each member of your squad has a "focus," which I guess would be considered their class skills. As you complete objectives and finish missions, you can have multiple focuses on each character. Focus on long range, medical... junk like that.
This certainly has the potential to end up like Shadows of Brimstone if they keep flinging stuff at everyone. Who knows when it would actually ship then if they get a bajillion stretch goals....

This one seems to have come out of nowhere. Jumped in on the all-in pledge which seems like a good deal already and is sure to improve over the next few weeks.
They have confirmed that as long as they get enough EU backers then EU shipping should be possible. They are in discussions and hope to provide an update in 2 weeks.

Having the game directly related to the book is quite cool.
AND IT'S FREE (at least until March 5th).
I'm about halfway through the first book. It's been a quick page turner. Makes me a hell of a lot more eager to get my hands on the game.
All those figures are going to make for quite a fun and bloody sandbox.

I really like the fact that the company will be giving away copies of all digital files to encourage players to make modifications. They are even giving away the 3D models to allow backers to repose, modify and 3D print them.
I hope more companies move this way in the future.

Any idea how big the "Infesting Queen" is? Last model on the list spoilered below:
At only $2 off retail, I'll likely wait to buy it later, but just curious . In fact, pics of any of the models would be good... or are they mostly just art / some renders with a few 3d prints at this stage?

Manchu wrote:Reposting from update comments -- Mike: FT0 is clearly an ambitious game by an ambitious team -- that is exactly what caught my eye. But October 2014 is very, very soon considering. Can you please explain why you chose that date. Given what I have seen with nearly every other KS I have backed, much less ones for products this complicated, delivery takes much longer than seven months. I would like to keep my money behind this cool game but honestly the delivery date seems unjustifiable and makes me wonder if I'm a sucker for pledging.
Emergent Games wrote:@Manchu: Sorry about missing the update comments! You raise a good point. We are doing a lot on the backend to pre-stage, but this date may simply be too optimistic. We have been in planning with our manufacturer (we're using Panda if you guys are curious), since we funded, so if it looks like we need to make changes we'll update everyone right away.
However! No matter what happens with the date, we will move mountains to ship as early as possible!

Those monster twists are going to be nasty, considering everything gets the benefit of them.
Supposedly we've got a unique specialist coming up next.
All these slimy tentacle creatures they've got coming would be great hanging out in a town called Brimstone... Automatically Appended Next Post: Emergent Games went and opened up another 100 slots of early birds (which is about 25 dollars off).
Letting everyone know if you're interested, you're already getting a bunch of stuff at that price and they seem hellbent on adding more as their campaign rolls on.

Yeah, this game looks great, and will go pretty well with Brimstone. I hope they can ship near their date, though it does seem optimistic. Seems like they have a great system, and it will be fun to play if the rules are good.

It looks like in the comment above they all but admitted that they won't hit the date / it's pretty much a shot in the dark. I'd expect this no sooner than 6 months to a year after that date, per every other Kickstarter that hasn't carefully planned their production schedule... and even some that have
I'm loving the gribbly miniatures, but unless there's a bigger discount somewhere via a large "credit" or "add-ons only" pledge, I don't see the value in pledging for it now when the discount off MSRP is just a few bucks- buying it through any online retailer would net the same price later, without the angst of waiting out the delays with money tied up in this.
All that said, I want this to do well, but I'd like to see more miniatures rather than art.

THis one is bubbling away nicely and for once it seems that it is not going down the throw everything at them to get more money route. Not a massive saving possibly to what you might get onlie rrp, but it will save on the hassle of getting additionalsets etc if I can spring to the war chest pledge.
Besides miniatures I am hoping to see a draft of the ruleset and more gameplay vidoes. Seems t ohave a fair bit of tactical play about it and the various alternatives minis should give it decent replay value if the core rules are solid.
Oct looks very optimistic but early 2015 certainly looks feasible.

The first community stretch goal was unlocked this evening -
Emergent Games posted a comment regarding this a few days ago -

It looks like they may have been a little too optimistic but intend to keep backers updated as possible regarding any production delays. I have been very impressed with the level of communication from Emergent Games and how well they are engaging the backers, looking at the original Kickstarter for Fireteam Zero (which they pulled due to backer feedback) you can see how many suggestions they have taken on board.

That lunger is supposed to be on the larger side of the figure spectrum, measuring in around 50mm or so.
Also, there are supposed to be 2 more war chest add ons coming this week.
It's fun to see a KS campaign that has that continuing momentum rather than the frontloading we see with some of the more established companies.
Hopefully they'll continue to dole out info and figure sculpts/ renders as time marches on.

kept saying no more but this one looks like having a lot of potential and getting the EU friendly news was the clincher.
Not one of those look at all the goodies you will get KS's but a solid thoughtful campaign so far, with I suspect the developers knowing what they can deliver in a reasonable timeframe - albeit Oct 2014 looks debatable , I get the feeling we would not wait for months.
The gribblies look excellent and I suspect easily used in other games as well

More news!
First: They've opened a second Heavy Assault Early Bird. For $140 you get the core set + 2 expansions + all stretch goals.
Second They've released a couple of the STL files with two of the miniatures!!
The files may be opened with Blender, a 3D free software. Files can be accessed through this link:
http://bit.ly/1kN2pdE
Third: If anyone is interested in trying the game (and lives in Dallas, USA), Emergent Games will be attending the Dallas Games Marathon on the 22nd of March.
