Dammit your fast! I was about to post this myself when I saw you beat me to the punch!

We are still supposed to be getting another WC add on as well!

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

Well this keeps me from dipping my toe in, but I'll definitely be watching for when these add-ons go on sale:

FAQ wrote:Can I purchase just the Add-Ons without getting a game?

To purchase Add-Ons, you must have a pledge that contains a game. In order to properly handle shipping costs, we must attach everything to the box sets.

And have they posted what material the models are going to be made out of? I see the below comment in the OP of this thread, but from glancing through here and even the KS updates I can't find much discussion about material? Campaigns like this with mostly art / renders but not much in the way of an actual test of the production process / material with the model designs makes me nervous...

EG have been working hard on the manual and hope to have it uploaded within the next few hours. Hopefully that will sell a few people on the fence.

I'm quoting the creators:

The models are 28mm heroic scale! A human model will be between 35-40mm tall, an Elite figure will reach 50mm, and a boss figure will tower over both of them at 60mm. The figures will be made out of high-quality PVC plastic, and will not require assembly.

Cheers!

Spawn point addon added today -

As always, this is included in the Warchest pledge level.

They have also added a simpler image to showcase what is currently included in the Warchest level (and will be improving a lot over the next couple weeks as well) -

I went and stuck that new War Chest pic up in the beginning of the thread.

Those spawn points are a neat idea.

Yes, those spawn points are pretty cool. I might pick up a second batch just for some battlefield scatter terrain for other games. Certainly can't hurt.

Nice idea Greed. I might do as well.
Anyway, great addition!

Another community stretch goal passed -

Included free at Heavy Assault level and above (few Heavy Assault early birds available still since they added a few more).

Nice to see another strech goal unlocked. But this seems to have hit a wall.

So, with 2 decks at the WarChest level, does anyone see the need for a 3rd deck, in case 3 people want to play the same arch-type? Or if you run 2 squads, if you want more than one arch-type in those squads? Just trying to figure out what extras I might need to bump up for. I know another set of dice is a must in my house, so that everyone doesn't fight over dice.

This was hit really hard by MERC but it finally seems to be on the rise again now rather then just treading water.

Here's the newest boss render:

Doesn't seem to match up with the silhouette they showed, but still conveys a big bad tree thing.

Next stretch goal hit, so that's 3 Kickstarter Exclusive Thorn Skulk minions added to the bundle.

EG should be announcing the $300k Stretch Goal shortly.

Edit, and it's been added to the bottom of the Stretch Goal list -

Spoiler:

Commander Geitz looks interesting. Very WWII feeling tech level for sure.

I'm a little disappointed that we've only added 1 back in the last 4 days or so it seems like. I'd really like to get to that backer SG. I'm impressed that they keep adding things, but we seem to be stalled. Not sure what helps them out.

The tentacles look kind of tacked onto that mech model, at least in the art.

I do like the Thornspawn renders, although they're a little simple... and my favorite model for them seems to be a KS exclusive, with no way to back just for it / add-ons.

Looks interesting, but I'm so over paying $300 for a boardgame at this stage, especially one that would be a year away at minimum. Oh. this one would cost $400.

I wonder if we'll get the 49 backers in the last 10 days of this. It would be nice to get those 2 packs of cards. Let's hope they draw some more people into this.

Emergent Games has specified the tilesets of the core game and both expansions:

Core Set:
- Forest - Outdoor
- Town/Village - Outdoor
- Mine/Underground - Indoor
- Building/Complex - Indoor

Africa Expansion:
- Desert Ruins - Outdoor
- Experimental Lab - Indoor

Europe Expansion:
- Winter Bombed-out City - Outdoor
- Occult Ritual site/Mansion - Indoor

The multi-squad missions have two arena/huge area battlefields, plus you will add 4 tiles from the core set to create a 2x8 monster board. There are two Multi-Squad packs, so that's 4 arenas total.

By the way, they are going to add two new pledge levels! Great news I think!

For those of you backing: what, to you, differentiates this from other dungeon crawly games? I'm having trouble figuring out where it "fits."

Well, it's not really a dungeon crawler. It is similar to Gears of War in some of the rules but adding a more tactical and story-driven experience. In dungeon crawlers, maps are divided into small cells, being very important distances, line-of-sight, who is at the front line, who is at the back, etc, and heroes usually have a deterministic set of habilities.
In FTZ the board is not divided into cells but more like areas (like Mansions of Madness) and the habilitiess of the heroes is determined by what cards you have in your hand, so it's less deterministic, though you have more habilities.

If I had to describe the game, I would say that it's a fast action pace game were your life the number of cards in your hand (like gears of war) + some exploring and completing mission objectives (like Mansions of Madness) + hand management with some small deck building with permanent upgrades (permanent upgrades are like Descent) + some use of the specific habilities to control enemies and help your teammates (like a skirmish game) + enemies getting stronger as time goes by. Everything packed in 45 minutes missions (An operation is made of 3 mission, it's like a small campaign).

For me, it won't replace any other dungeon crawler that I have. However, I'm going to get rid of Gears of War as soon as I get this since I think it provides the action Gears of Wars does but in much less time and adding much more tactical depth. And, last but not least important, THERE IS NO NEED FOR A PLAYER CONTROLLING THE ENEMIES!!

That's how I see it. Hope it helps!

Cincy,

This is going to be a lot like Shadows of Brimstone. Good game, has expansion stuff so you can play with 2 squads. The models look really good from the renders so far. This seems like much more of an escalation game, to that the co-op is very much time centric, like a real military mission would be. Get in, get out. Or get clobbered.

I've been lurking for a while, and keeping an eye on this thread and just realized it hasn't been updated in a while. There have been a number of additions to the game but the one I'm highlighting right now is

There is a limited number of "just minis" pledges available. You can also overpledge on your other pledges if you are getting the game to add another full set of all the miniatures. It's currently $100 for 90+ minis and will include any stretchgoal minis achieved!

Whoa. If they were going to allow folks to just get the minis, why didn't they offer it sooner? I'm guessing they just hadn't worked out the details, but that's cool. Still can't just pledge for any one type of minis, but cool

I"m guessing it was working out the details, and the fact that it's limited means it's better to save towards the end I suppose.

I wonder if anyone thinks this has the slightest chance in hell of shipping in October 2014? It looks good on the surface, but then it seems to be another awesome looking boardgame selling based on renders only that's a wee bit too ambitious for it's own good and creators who overestimate their ability to fulfil their promises. (I also note they're trying to "Mine Cart" as well.)

Just added in the comments:
So does anyone have any idea when this project might actually ship? I look at October 2014 and based on everything else I've backed, I can only say "no chance in hell."
When the inevitable delays occur, will the project be split into wave shipping with backers receiving the core box first and the extra stuff later?

Will international backers be told that all their stuff will ship together with the second wave?

Not being a troll - these are things that typically happen, and as I said, there's no chance of this shipping in 2014, let alone in 6 months.

They addressed the estimated release date on the first day of the campaign -

Emergent Games wrote:
@Manchu: Sorry about missing the update comments! You raise a good point. We are doing a lot on the backend to pre-stage, but this date may simply be too optimistic. We have been in planning with our manufacturer (we're using Panda if you guys are curious), since we funded, so if it looks like we need to make changes we'll update everyone right away.

However! No matter what happens with the date, we will move mountains to ship as early as possible!
