Alright Dakkanaughts, ive been thinking heavily about making a new army. I enjoy my Blood angels but im thinking its time to start a new army. Im highly liking the new Dark Angels(deathwing) and Chaos space marines.(nurgle/plague marines). Im looking for a min of 1500 points. What would you guys suggest?

I'm partial to the Deathwing. You can buy a massive army cheap, with the Dark Vengeance models out.

One of the great things about Dark Angels, is that you have options to run an entire terminator (deathwing) all bikes (ravenwing) or just straight PA army. Or a mix of them.

The down side, is we don't have anything that's totally broken (( ie: Riptide, Wave Serpents, wraithknight, hellturkey, etc))

Found some deals on ebay for left over dark Vengence termies. How would I go about outfitting them? Also I have a couple assault termies I can use for the army as well.

Since you already have a space marine army, why would you get a still-space-marines-but-slightly-different-and-also-the-weakest-version marines?

I really cant justify buying a heldrake is probably one reason. Im really looking for a foot slogging type army to be honest. I do enjoy me some plague marines and oblit cults.

I play Dark Angels and enjoy them but if you don't like the idea of playing Ravenwing or Deathwing I'd probably go with something else. Sprinkling in Greenwing units is nice, but full Greenwing isn't really all that interesting.

Deathwing is what im very much interested in.

I am a dark angels fan so I'm very biased.
I really love using deathwing, but I always support it with other elements of your army.
A pure deathwing army is difficult to run and everyone knows your weaknesses (AP2 and massed fire). Almost every army you face will be equipped to deal with you and you don't have enough shooting to deal with everything before they start. Gunning you down.

Just take this into consideration if you go with deathwing. Nurgle CSMs run into this problem too. But at least you can spam plague zombies.

Just some advice, don't discount the possibility of running a mixed dark angels army. It's really satisfying to see your terminators touch down right as your bikes crash into their lines and only after your opponent has destroyed the two major threats does he remember the lowly little tactical squad camping on an objective in the midfield. Think about it

Without any understanding of what kind of army you're looking for, my best guess would be deathwing, because it's super cheap to get the models for them.

Foot slogging you say!? Imagine this, plague marines. Plague Marines dragging across the battlefield supported by hordes of zombies that aimlessly walk towards the enemy despite bolter shots flying in and exploding their companions. Pustules explode yet they continue to mindlessly crawl forth. The vanguard of mutated freaks writhe towards the enemy inhead of the rest spitting out bile, aids, and other concoctions of contagion! Laugh at the foe's petty shots! You are a walking cesspool that simply wishes to show your foe the glory of papa nurgle. Plus you can be green meaning orks will like you quite a bit!

In all seriousness, deathwing is also pretty entertaining. It's also a cheaper army!

I like the way these 2 armies look. figure wise.

CSM are the better codex.

I like the way these 2 armies look. figure wise.

Then the correct army for you is whichever one you like the minis for better.

There's no way we can really help you all that much with this, though, as which ones look better to you is going to be more a rather personal aesthetic, rather than anything objective.

Like Ailaros said, whichever you like best. If you're stuck between the two picking one that can ally to your current force might be something to consider. Death(wing)Company?

Otherwise, glory to the dark gods! And there are some new chaos kits coming out soon (or so is the rumor), so I'd say Chaos.

You could make a nurgle-themed army where nurgle granted them mutations and growth instead of decay and use that crimson slaughter supplement with the possed as nurgly-possed. *trollface*

Mix things up a bit, take DA

Thats what I'd say if what army you played was up to me. Its not though, so what I'd suggest is proxy some models and decide for yourself instead of asking strangers who don't know your preferences! You will be upset if you let us decide which army to play for you

My suggestion is that you buy the DV box (two if you can get them cheap).
You paint them, you playtest them and you build both up a little bit (to 750 maybe).

Whenever you feel like it, make up your mind and sell the other part and start building the other.

I would however choice the DA. Cheaper army $$-wise

This is not a downside, this is called ballance.

Technically, if every other codex had one super unit, then balance would require all codices to have one super unit. DA would be imbalanced, then.
