I'm a returner to the hobby that plays weekly games in a pub (top floor) - been doing 1000pt guard matches but Tyranids is clearly where it is at since the release of their powerful new codex.

Some guy on tumbler said that Tyranids work best when you don't get too complicated and try and use SUPERSTAR units (the strongest list for facing my club is no doubt 'flying circus' - but that dosnt feel like cricket/costs a bomb)

The below list is based on the idea of threat overload.

Thoughts?

1 Flyrant Double Devs + BLW 230pt

3x Naked Fex 360pt

3x Zoan 150pt

44 Hormagribbly 220pt

10 Termagrobbly 40pt

: 1000+
: 1000+
1500+ (they didnt have one for Bretonnians)
Also + BFG Fleets
Oh and now

Looks nice, though you may want to find a way to squeeze double devs on the fexs.

Dakkafexes are worth their weight in gold. They've absolutely been MVP's in every game I've fielded them in. I'd highly recommend finding the points for them.

Looks good for 1000 points, if you can't magnitise to put Dakka on the Fexen, you can always add in Bio-plasma later...

Yeah, Dakkafexes... I'm working out a quick math-hammer and I'm still less than completely hard....you know and the whole DAKKAFEXES LOOK A BIT gak thing (any way round this?)

Still 8 GEQ and 4 MEQ if all firing is alright - I was kind of leaning towards a more 'break them' in combat thing, but everyone's fearless now anyway.

So 90pts for D-fexes cud look like -

minus 1 zoan and 8 horma

1 Flyrant Double Devs + BLW 230pt

3x Dakkafex 450pt

2x Zoan 100pt

36 Hormagribbly 180pt

10 Termagrobbly 40pt

Anyone here think naked fex is good idea or am I just straight up kidding myself?

With the addition of their new HOW rule naked fexes aren't a bad choice. They're cheap, durable, and if you add adrenal glands they pack a punch and get places faster. I would, however, add bioplasma since it doesn't take away a CCW pair. That's still 3xd3 s9 attacks. (not sure if adrenal affects HOW on the charge).

Well, the nid is not really the all new super power codex, it is more our old codex with some nerfing.

I assume your running the Hormies in to broods of 18? I would sink the las 90 points in to beefing up that guant brood in to something useful.

The Dakkafex is our second best volume of fire unit, with the Flyrant slightly ahead. It is a staple anti-air unit for bugs and good at killing things with wounds.

A naked Carniefex is not good for much, it needs atleast frag spines so it can charge in to cover and stay at full I3.

I full support more bugs, but if you want one of the "star" codex that is still Eldar/Tau/Deamon at the moment.

If you don't like the look of the current Dakkafex you could always check out FW. They have a really nice model for The Brainleech Devourers.

and the Miasma Cannon does use a pair of CCW - still a very nice option to consider though. How do you figure 3xD3 Attacks on the CFex? The way I see it he gets the D3 Hammer of Wrath and 3 attacks base +1 extra on the charge then if the Fex were to have 2x Pairs of CC weapons he would benefit from an added attack. Now what I'm not sure about is does this affect the smash attack? 5 attacks on the charge normally and the potential for 3 double strength smashing attacks? (please correct me where I'm wrong, CC is still somewhat new to me)

I think he was refering to the Brood of 3 Fexes...so 3 fexes = 3D3 HoW....at least thats how I read it...

You half your attacks and round UP. So yes, 5 would turn into 3 smash attacks on the charge with 2 pairs of CCWs. Not like you would need the Smash, you're s9 and if you add AG then well there you go- s10.

Therefore, a charging carnifex can inflict up to 8 wounds in CC.

Easy solution, cut the end off a Venom cannons and stick 3/4 Devourers in a circle around, looks pretty nifty...

13 quid is an amount of money.

Look pretty though.

If I buy one pair (which is 2 dubble dev's) what am I doing with my other 2 arm sockets? (can i stick my ST back in? I'm getting no game advantage from them).

Yeah - think I'll do that then as best balance between aesthetics and WYSIWYG rules.

I will magnetize and run the slightly more dakka orientated list here b4 reporting back. Its part of a 3 month club challenge (pick an army - points for game/paint/completion ect)

Going with a marble white carapace (layered shade effect + shiny ardcoat) and patina blue copper like skin.

Sounds cool, if you can figure how, I'd like to see the results
