hey hey. the more i ponder about this list, the more excited i get. but what do you think dakkanauts? please to consider the following:
NOTE: units in red are from the Synaptic Swarm Formation
HQ
Old One Eye
Tyranid Prime w/ Flesh Hooks, Lash Whip and Bonesword, the Miasma Cannon, Adrenal Glands and Toxin Sacs
Elites
Venomthrope Brood
Venomthrope Brood
Venomthrope Brood
Troops
Hormagaunt Brood (18)
Hormagaunt Brood (18)
Tervigon w/ Regeneration
Termagant Brood (30) w/ 17 Spinefists, 10 Devourers and 3 Stranglewebs
Tyranid Warrior Brood w/ Spinefists, 2 Rending Claws and Adrenal Glands
Tyranid Warrior Brood w/ Barbed Strangler
Tyranid Warrior Brood w/ Barbed Strangler
Fast Attack
Harpy
Harpy
Heavy Support
Carnifex Brood w/ Spine Banks and Adrenal Glands
Carnifex Brood w/ Spine Banks and Adrenal Glands
so here's how it plays: one warrior squad, one venomthrope and one fexen per unit of gribblies. OOE gets the termigants and rending claw equpped warriors. The tyranid prime acts as a troubleshooter, deploying and moving from squad to squad as needed. The tervigon spawns back to midfield objective grabbers - but she doesn't start till turn 2 or 3, so as to not suffer premature menopause. The harpies are also troubleshooters. glide or zoom( or is it swoop?), reserve or start on table are dependent on your particular situation at start of game.
multiple redundant mini-armies that still move as one. resist the urge to spread yourself along your edge. what will your opponent target first? synapse? got a ton of it - with the 18" from the formation, deploy relatively tight, and you'll be covered in a big way for a while. the fexen? plenty of chaff and the flyers to drown you in dice. the chaff? boom. carnifexen in your buisiness - yadda yadda yadda
i realize this only nets you one roll on the psychic power table, and i am holding my breath to see what kind of formations drop this week with the new dataslate, but what do you think? am i missing a pivotal angle here? please comment, critique, rant and/or rave.

Very cool! I have been unable to come up witha decent list using Synapic Node, Would this list look better with Deathleaper? That way you get to hose an IC...?

thanks! and that's an interesting alternative - let's see (spitballing here, so apologies if my maths are off) but if you drop OOE, take regeneration off of the tervigon and stranglewebs from the termigants, you could add deathleaper and a third fexen with adrenals without dramatically changing the playstyle of the list.

Oh yeah I will. Except not until at least the weekend at least (oh work, you pay for myy little plastic bugs, but you take so much of my time..)
If anyone else gives this a go, post your successes (or failures) please! and I'm not vain, so if this works, and catches on, I only ask that it becomes known as.. Triplifex!
Or or, maybe the Nodestar! Oooh.
Also, keep the comments and critiques coming!

I'd go Crones instead of Harpies. You need some AA really and something that can take out transports or tanks.
Other than should be fun.

Fair enough regarding AA, I don't see that many flyers at all in my local meta (thankfully?), so they don't factor into my listbuilding usually. To swap out the harpies for crones could be as easy as losing regen off of the tervigon, and the spine banks from the fexen.
As far as anti-transport/vehicles, well that's what the fexen are for. Properly screened and set up for success, I see a solo fex more than enough for any terrestrial vehicle in the game.
I regularily play against triple LR lists, and I've never been let down yet.

Personally, I would drop most of the uprgrades. No regen for the terv, no rending claws or adrenal for the warriors, just fleshborers/spinefists for the terms, some of the upgrades from the primes. Nids do better with more bodies on the table. Use all of these points for another termagant squad or to boost the numbers on the horms. More bodies means more troops to take objectives and more models your opponent has to worry about.
Otherwise, it looks like an interesting list.

it looks like I'll be getting in a game tomorrow night vs. GK. my friend is still pretty new to that army coming from orks, but that's okay as I'm also pretty new to tyranids - so full disclosure - his list won't be "optimized". He's been working on a Draigowing list with assasin support - and it may come down to my paper smothers his rock army, but I plan on playing the stock list from my first post, and I'll definitely post up the highlights after the game.
I do recognize the benefits of more bugs on the table, and regen is a pretty hefty pricetag for something that can be totally wasted by dying in one turn of focused fire - but, and I may just be rationalizing a poor decision - that is part of the point. I think it's more of a psychological weapon than anthing else - and if he does focus all his fire to take down my tervigon in one turn, then everyone else has lived.. I don't know. we'll see.
