Looking good. What resin heads have you used on some of the Mk III marines? They look great.

I am loving everything in Prospero bar the Custodians, the relic blades just look far too thick to me.

Anyway seems like you have had a big day or two of construction, keep it up.

The heads are from the Dark Angels Legion upgrade set. I think their main armour set is modified MkII/MkIII if I remember right.

Custodes use Sentinel blades- big power swords with a bolter built-in. I can see where you're coming from, but I quite like them. Has a Cloud-esque Final Fantasy feel to it that I like (you won't hear me saying that often, as I hate J-RPGs). I am however, awfully tempted by that sweet, sweet grav-tank they've got coming up.

I really really need to stop building more stuff, and finish painting the stuff I've got. My grey pile o shame is getting out of hand lol.

Your builds are looking very cool. I plan to build the WD Overkill team myself, so it's great to see you've started - I look forward to watching them come out. The dread looks impressive, and I found the little fluff snippet you've written to be very cool as well.

Also had a falling out with my Game&Gear Ichiban Pro paintbrushes, as they just fail to keep their shape no matter how much I clean them with brush soap. So my patronage has switched to W&N series 7 brushes and Citadel.

Looks as good as done to me AOV, and looks extremely good to boot. Are all 30 mkIII going to be DA?

Mostly in 30k colours yes. Though I'll certainly be using some of those bits for 40k! They should throw a nice bit of variety in the mix

I'm splitting the legionaries with my brother, so 15 for me, 15 for him. We already got 2 copies of B@C. He gets the Tartaros pattern terminators also. I can always snaffle a set later. I get the Sisters and Custodes, as he's not too bothered about them (being Sons of Horus and all).

Hello, all! Been having a wee break from the P&M side of things in November. Just felt a bit bleh about it all. I may have to purge a few items in the Bay of E(vil).

Last night, I did some more on my Dark Angels Legion. Specifically the Contemptor dread from the Calth set. Mainly blocking in the colours and shading the metal. I used Nuln Oil and Agrax Earthshade on the joints and chassis, to make the decorative trim on the model stand out more.
Been thinking about whether or not I should dry brush the armour or edge highlight it. I don't really think Contemptors are suitable for dry brushing since they have a lot of smooth open areas. What do you guys think?

Also drilled the barrels on the multi-melta and the exhaust stacks on the power plant, as well as painting in the eye lenses on the head. I think I'm going to make it a rule of thumb that those get done before I highlight the head, as I can pretty much guarantee that I'll end up splorching paint over my highlights. Drives me crazy.
The lenses were painted like so:
Ceramite White>Mephiston Red> Nuln Oil> Troll Slayer Orange> Yriel Yellow.

The base was done with Astrogranite Debris and some rocks. Needs shading and highlighting yet. I may put a dead Sons of Horus marine on there too...

I think that edge highlighting is certainly the way to go as it came up a treat on the MkIII marine. I hope that you have no further splotching issues!

How is the Astrogranite Debris to work with? It looks loaded with sand and grit and so could be a bit of a pain to manipulate.

I believe they use micro-plastic particles in these, so if you do get some use a spreader and DO NOT clean it in the sink. Wipe it on some kitchen roll. I use the spreader tool from GW which is pretty good.

Paint splorching is a bit of an issue for me, as my hands can be a bit shaky when I haven't eaten anything prior to painting.

Also forgot to mention that I got some new gubbinz from the Awaken Realms Awakening Kickstarter. Basically some nice objective markers and little terrain bits and pieces.

The skull portal will be good for my brother's Khornate forces in 40K and Age of Sigmar. Not sure where to go with the crystalline portals. Maybe use them for Silver Tower. That would be pretty cool, no? The tentacle pillar thing I'm thinking maybe using that as a Beastmen Herdstone.

Also built my Legion Praetors

Cheers folks. Tried to do the quick n easy White+Bloodletter glaze with him, but it didn't really pan out because the Contemptor eye lenses are a much bigger area than normal Astartes helmets. I had to soak the Bloodletter up with a brush pretty quickly.

Yeah, I've hit a bit of a low point with my hobbying of late (and overall mood) so I haven't got much done.

More progress with mr contemptor . Obviously not perfect- some tidying up to do. Not sure where to go with the weapon casing on the multi-melta... Red or hazard stripes?

Looking good - as for the casing, either could work. Hazard stripes are very much a RT-look and would look very nice against the black body, though people these days often think they're IW-exclusive.

A red casing also would look good, and has late-RT/2e overtones to it. Since you've gone for black bolter casings on your MKIII above, I'd go with the hazard stripes.

Had a little break from the Legiones Astartes and dabbled in Maleficarum . A minion from the Silver Tower . Had a gander at the nice lil tip of the day video for Pink Horror skin.

It was too cold to spray paint (and dark by the time I got home) so I used Ceramite White as a starting point. Then washed with Carroburg Crimson, followed by Pink Horror. Calling it a night for now, but there's Emperor's Children and Screaming Skull highlights to follow. I think I'll convert the other one into The Librarian who you bump into in one of the rooms for Silver Tower. He's basically a slightly more powerful pink horror with a nasty fire spell. I may go back over it with a few glazes of Carroburg Crimson as there's still some white bits showing in the recesses.

Here's a lil progress pic

Incoming supply drop!

As an early xmas present from my brother, I've got some Scarab Occult terminators and Rubricae coming to help start my Sons of the Cyclops(Black Legion). Thanks to WHQ:ST I've got a few Tzaangors and daemons to throw in there too. The best thing about this being, I can flit between 40K and Age of Sigmar rather easily now everything's on round bases .

I'm going to have them led by Iskandar Khayon (the very same guy from the ADB book, Talon of Horus). Equipped with an axe looted from the corpse of a Space Wolf on Prospero. He'll have a handful of Rubricae in amongst his Black Legion minions. As well as the Scarab Occult as his terminator bodyguard.

**Edit: I may also have to find a Fenrisian wolf to represent his tutelary, Gyre. She possesses the wolf of the guy that Khayon kills on Prospero.

++INCOMING TRANSMISSION...++

+++ESTABLISHING CONNECTION...+++

++All is dust...All is dust...++

Spoiler:

The first of 10 Rubricae assembled . Nothing too major, just an inferno bolter. Also received my 10 plastic Plague stage 3 mutants from Mantic's Warpath Kickstarter. Far superior to the Deadzone restic versions. They come with pretty much all the options: xflamers, x2 mortar, x2 heavy machine guns, x2 grenade launchers, commander upgrade and a couple of Plague doggies .

Spoiler:

Also got a Deredeo dreadnought on the way, with the not-at-all-phallic hellfire plasma cannonade. Debating whether or not to give him the dirty great missile launcher, or the atomantic pavise when it comes out(basically a shield bubble).

Looks like 2017 is going to blast a hole of epic proportions in my bank account with Tzaanuary 2017 on the way. SO.MUCH.COOL.STUFF!!
(Must finish the Stormcast and Silver Tower stuff first...ughhhh. Bad AoV.)
