on the forum. Obviously

Imperial Guard.
It's still a valid name, after all.
Whether or not my IG opponent understands is another matter

Pretty much this, "Astra Militarum" (like "Militarum Tempestus") will be said with a faux posh Made-In-Chelsea style horseface and voice.

Otherwise it's still going to be Guard and 'Troopers

Bad luck?! Schmad luck!

The new names are so unbelievably stupid. For me, they are the guard codex and stormie codex.

I'll probably stick with IG, just because that's what I've known them as for years.

Though I'm curious if we'll start seeing newer players calling them the AM rather than the IG.

"Scions" or "Storm Troopers" in conversation. "MT Scions" or "MTS" on DakkaDakka.

For the Guard Codex... Imperial Guard all around. Astra Militarium? WTF is that? Some sort of bacteria?

Yes, we will.

Anyone who joins The HHHobby from now on will not know about the Imperial Guard unless they read its history on DakkaDakka.

On Dakka Dakka, in the Army List and Battle Report section, will you still call it IG?

Imperial Guard, all the way. I had to stop myself laughing in a GW last week when the manager seemed to be trying to force Astra Militarium/Militarium Tempestus into every possible sentence while I continued to refer to them as Guard and Stormtroopers.

Probably Imperial Guard still. Every time I try to remember "Astra Militarium" in the middle of a conversation I end up saying "Astra Mili- No... Tempestus? No... **** Astra... THE NEW F****** MEAT SACKS."
It frustrates me.
>.<

Well, referencing them I'll most likely say "guard" as the polish word for that has a nice ring to it, but I think I will be actually alternating between writing "IG" and "AM" on the forums until I get used to Astra Militarum. But only when talking with acronyms because the full name is a bit too long to write everytime you mention them and saying just "Astra" seems utterly slowed to me so.. yeah.

It'll be the Guard for me, but I'll write it as "AM".

I'll probably just keep referring to them as Imperial Guard. It's what I've been calling them this whole time, so there's really no reason to stop now.

My group (and other spanish-speaking online communities I visit) have quickly adopted the name "Tempestus" for stormtroopers. Probably because it's shorter than "soldados de asalto".

It's ironic that we are so acceptant of GW's new trademarks, considering they haven't bothered to translate their book into spanish.

Well, I'm not playing the "space army". I'm playing the Imperial guard. I will look with confused eyes at any store manager or floor grunt that calls them Astra Militarium until they use the old name.

But if I give it some time... a year or two... I think I'll just call them "the militarium". The astra part sounds malplaced.
