This is my first battle report, and in fact my first battle, so I mostly just wanted to tell everybody about it.
These were our deployment positions. I had the Chaos side, he had the Guard side. My Daemon Prince and Bloodthirster did most of the heavy lifting, taking out all of his vehicles in the first two turns. A particularly funny moment occurred when he called in an orbital strike which missed, and hit one of his squads, killing most and pinning the remainder down. I then walked up to them with my squad of Cultists and burned those with my flamer while they cowered in the crater.
The game felt unbalanced to me, as even though we had the same points values, his bullets were bouncing off me, and I just carved through his units. Still though, it was a very enjoyable game, and my opponent was a really nice guy who I'd play again.
Everybody was admiring my models too, which was pretty great. They're not all painted yet, but I'm getting there.

As an Imperial Guard/Astra Militarum player... it looks like he messed up his list? You have the same amount of stuff on the table but the reason you ripped through is because his stuff is SUPPOSED to be weaker but at the same time cost less, so he's supposed to have more models.
Did he have stuff in reserve?
Welcome to 40k though! Good job on your first game

I play Daemons and sometimes I feel this way. Last night, I played a Tau player in a friendly game with a Great Unclean One and a Nurgle Daemon Prince. He had the vertical advantage, but I hid my Prince behind a building (we had some large buildings), flew him right to the front of another building where his Broadsides where camping on top of, streamed of Corruptioned (flamer template psychic power) to waste one suit and a drone. Second turn, hopped over the building, and wrecked a Hammerhead. Following that, he eviscerated a Riptide and destroyed his second Hammerhead. Tabled him when I only lost most of a Flesh Hound pack and 7 out of 10 Plaguebearers. The Prince was down to 1 wound and probably would have died if I didn't get him Iron Arm and roll +1 to invul for two turns either.

Not visible on the table is a ten man squad including a Commissar inside the Chimera. The Bloodthirster killed them all in one assault phase.
The Bloodthirster wasn't actually my model, it was lended to me by one of the guys at the next table. He saw my (unpainted) Daemon Prince, and said "if you can make a Daemon Prince look like that, I'd love to see what you'd do with a Bloodthirster." I ordered one online as soon as I got home.

Congrats on the game! In my experience daemons are usually feast or famine. You either win big or lose big, so don't be discouraged when the losing big comes!
