Final cut of the Deathscale ready for printing (from facebook)

So here we have the finished Flesh Golem in all its gory glory.

I have decided to use the Deathmask, Bearpelt shoulders and claw and tentacle armset on this particular model and I think he looks suitably grim!!!

I'm not as sure about Deathscale, seems like he needs more scales (which is a bummer since that's the main one I'm after ). But the print of the golem is really nice!

I would say the chainmail and the feet could have used a little more definition, but on the whole, it looks fantastic.

I have been promising this for a while now but I have the first WIP shot for the Troll Patriarch. This is still a fairly early WIP shot but it will give you an idea of how this enormous brute will look.

The Troll is almost finished. I'd love to here your comments. There will be a dead goblin hanging from his belt before he is done!!
I think the face is now craggier and I will get the stone on the arms to be larger and more pronounced.

That looks really similar to the art, well done!

I wish the Deathscale had turned out as similar, but I'm still hoping seeing the 3d print / master of it will sway me (and I'm pledged for it anyway).

Progress and the next KS


Hello everyone,
As you know progress has been a bit slow at late. May is slipping by and I have not got much more to update you with. The casts are being done and should be ready soon. The Troll is now out for printing so should be ready to start casting ASAP.

I am making one last call out to those who have not chosen their miniatures yet to get back to me as soon as is practically possible.I still have a fair few blanks in my database so you guys will be getting random minis. Sorry about this but the opportunity to choose finished in March and I am still getting people email. SO ITS YOUR LAST CHANCE PEEPS!

On a more positive note I have had some artwork for our next KS. I'm sorry if you think I am jumping the gun a bit as I have not fillies this one yet but I love showing you guys the new stuff. As I mentioned previously two new creatures will be appearing in the next KS including the Underhulk and the Hook Beast. Here is the hook beast in all its beaky, hooky, glory! I hope you like him...

Hello Everyone,

I have not posted for a while as I have been busy making sure everything is ready to be shipped for our KS. We are a couple of months overdue but the good news is we should start shipping within the next 2-3 weeks.

I have some other news too.. Our second KS will launch sometime in early October.

We are changing things ofr the second KS and we are going to concentrate on one single model... the biggest model in our range (at this stage). If any of you have seen our troll you will realise this is some statement to make!!

The next KS will launch the Zombie Hulk miniature. He is a beast, 110mm tall and almost as round, he will have a variety of cool bits to unlock to make it possible to create many different looking creatures.

The reason we are only limiting this KS to one miniature is that we can make, deliver and complete this KS in a much faster time than the last one (especially with all the lessons we have learned along the way). We have also had more interest in this model than any other we have designed!!

We also want to accumulate cash to get our entire Goblin range off the ground...which will be the KS after that!!

I have attached some pictures below of our current range, some of the painted miniatures and some art work of the Zombie Hulk and some early 3D renders of the beastie too!

Definitely going to be backing this in october, I'm still hoping you'll make a larger lizard beast as well.

Some lovely details on the big guy. Will be interesting to see how he translates into miniature.

Backed your first KS, was sad it didn't get of the ground. Was going to back the 2nd one but the Zombie Hulk didn't get funded :( Glad the Hulk will be the next one and really looking forward to your gobbos!

A larger lizard beast is definitely on the cards. We will strive to do the Goblinkind faction first followed by either by Lizardkin or Undead. The next monster up for the Lizardkin is the Troglodyte Behemoth, a huge lizards snapping turtle like creature.

However, next up is the Hulk! He will be so cool!!

It will be a mini KS and may only run for 14 days, we have not made up our mind yet. The other monsters from the last KS will also be available to those who missed the last one or want to top up their collection. Only the Goblin Skulk will not return in his current guise. His limited edition status means he will not be making an appearance and neither will the Bugbear Ironshield Loyalty Head.

I did really want the hulk in the first Kickstarter, but not as much as the Minotaur! I'm sad that he won't feature in this next KS, but I will have to get a zombie hulk though.

You should try to come up with a few more variant parts for the bugbear, flesh golem, and deathscale, as they can make some cheap new versions for models you have most of the pieces made for already. Selling them along side figures which need to be fully modeled, can add a bit more money to the kickstarter, with minimal new work. You've proven that you can come up with some great variants for these models, so that could work pretty well.

Oh man, will it be a similar size to Deathscale? That's already pretty big! If so I'll be all over it . Just hope you don't go much bigger so it's still a usable in-game size (a bit smaller would work fine still though)

It will be bigger but not huge. It will be most probably on all fours with a rocky, swampy, Island on its back. It will be a lumbering brute... Slow witted but insanely strong. He will be the largest of the lizardkin models.

Yeah, that sounds amazing! Having it all all fours is great too I just hope it fits on a reasonably sized base! Maybe you can do some posing with it (such as giving it a rocky outcropping overhanging the front of the base) to help with that (similar to how Deathscale comes with a terrain feature to stand on).

I approve of this 4 legged island lugging monstrosity.

I'd also like to echo the idea of making new parts for some of the previous campaign's figures to help push the total up.

I'm sure I could use an extra deathscale on top of the ones I'm getting...

Will those awesome looking Hobgoblins be a part of the goblin-kind KS?

Just wanted to say I'm glad to see things progressing for Minion miniatures, Kaine. I remain impressed by the level of world-building craft and visual artistry that's gone into launching this fantasy range. Honestly, when you look at the work your concept artist turns out, it boggles the mind how other larger and richer gaming companies can settle for inferior work.

I remain a sci-fi guy, and I'm sure it will be a good while before you get into that genre - a wise strategy, since it's probably best to focus on building up your core fantasy line right now. So I can't say how much my enthusiasm will translate into financial support in the near future, although I'll keep an eye out for fantasy creatures that veer close enough to pass for sci-fi beasties in the meantime. (Still psyched to use your unique looking goblins as primitive aliens.)

In the meantime talk is cheap, I know, but keep on trucking. Fantasy isn't my thing, but I respect quality when I see it. Best of luck to you.

Barzam - the hobgoblins will definitely be part of the Goblinkind Faction and will be part of that KS.

Highlord - The additional parts idea certainly has merit and it is something we will think about. We may also invest in some different bodies for the original creatures. We are not sure yet.

Vermonter - thank you for your kind words. It means a lot to here positive feedback from the community. Minion is currently a one man show and it has taken a huge amount of time and willpower to get this far!! We are growing and I hope to add to the team with another full time position soon! We are committed to the fantasy line at present and we will make sure every faction has been released before we even think about Sci Fi. That said I do have some ideas floating around... I love the old school Traveller style universe as opposed to the darker 40k style future.

So are the Minotaur and the rest of it's Labyrinth cronies on the back burner for the foreseeable future?

There is a possibility he will make an appearance during this KS but it's more likely that the faction will form part of another KS later on.

Cool! Well, if he makes it into the next KS, that would be great! I'm still excited for the Hulk either way.

Do you plan to make a version of the Hulk's stomach where he isn't leaking his intestines, or one without the racks of dead bodies on it's back? Sort of a 'just a big fat evil guy' version.

There will be lots of additional parts. We may have a gut plate option or something along those lines... Maybe a great big belly maw. I'm not sure yet. The render for the basic version is nearly ready and we will make a decision on the rest very soon.

Sounds great! Can't wait to see what you come up with for the hulk. I really liked the helmet and head designs you did for the bugbear, flesh golem and deathscale, and I already like the spiked helmet, and cyclops heads for the hulk, so I'm sure there's more great stuff ahead for him. Hoping for more big bashing arms as well, and maybe a pseudo Howdah for his back.
