So deathwatch count as red scorpions this time around, decided to give loth a try. Skimask took korvidae so his assault troops could score.

Do you play 30k? It'd be a lot cooler if you did.

Nice batrep. Thanks for sharing it.

I have been curious about this but why do you use the buildings as impassable terrain with special access points rather than buildings with no carry capacity? The only real difference is that as buildings you could shoot them and cause collapses to damage the guys on top.

SM vs SM is nice though to make it fluffy one of you is a gonna have to be a newly renegade chapter (ie Astral Claws, etc.)...so which one of you is the renegade this time?

Actually if you check out Imperial Armour 9 Badab War Part 1 there are some really awesome missions in them (not to mention huge amount of post heresy SM renegade info). They are even pretty balanced though in interesting ways as sometimes one side gets more pts but has tougher requirements to win.

I really enjoy watching your batreps. Admittedly this one was a bit harder to follow given it was black armored space marines vs black armored space marines. But great pics as always.

We've always hated the building rules in the rule book but I don't think we've ever given the thought of using them without being able to occupy them before. The occupying part was always what we hated.
I wouldn't be against it totally but it would mean a lot more record keeping as we need to keep track of the AV and AV-modifiers for each building that is destroyable. Also if the roof isn't counted as difficult until after the building is destroyed that seems like a huge advantage for my Tau as they can thrust all over the table with zero risk.

Maybe we will give it a go at some point. Thanks for the idea

If it was true loyalist vs loyalist that would be required but since one side is an independent Inquisition Space Marine army (Death Watch Black Shields), and the other is a normal loyalist chapter, there is a lot more possible explanations.
There is enough other fluff showing huge distrust between Space Marines and the Inquisition that there are many possible explanations for this conflict. The DW are loyal to the Inquisition before any of their Space Marine brothers and we know Space Marines will fight the Inquisition if it comes down to it. First Founding chapters believe they are largely immune to being ex communicated and exterminated based on many GW stories.

If we had to say either some RG or some DW turned traitor, that would seem less likely to me personally as they are among the most loyal forces in the Imperium.

My librarian had too much wine and told korvidae that corax looked like the lead singer of the cure. And the rest is grim darkness and war.

Very true, black vs black is a bit hard to keep track of.

Those librarians and inquisitors they just love causing strife.

The new building rules in stronghold assault also add something to them as they can be destroyed as well and there are more explanations.

You could always call the building already damaged and therefore make the roof either difficult terrain or dangerous terrain (dangerous makes more sense as it your roofs look sound but could be structurally weak and cause people to drop down).

I'm not sure if I can bring myself to purchase stronghold assault.

After thinking about it some more I really don't see a point in using any of the building rules. They are already dangerous for jet and jump packs as impassible blocks and even after being destroyed, if the building is left standing, it wont effect LoS or units being able to stand on top of them.

If the building does get removed (no idea, don't have Stronghold Assault) then I am really against it since it means we need ruined versions of all destroyable buildings.

I suppose it would allow someone to try to hurt a unit hiding on top out of LoS due to the buildings height but we already don't allow objectives to be placed where normal infantry can't climb to. The only scenarios where a unit hiding on a building regular infantry can't get to and matter to the game would be either line breaker (jump/jet units hopping on a building in the enemy zone and not being targetable) or weapons not requiring LoS getting up there somehow (deploying barrage weapons on top or something).

Overall I'm not sure it would really add anything to the game but would require more book keeping.

We have one filmed and on the list to be edited and uploaded. It was Imperial Guard vs. Orks. I believe it's the one being released next.

I started sorting through my unpainted Guard stuff and figuring out what I should do next based on the new codex. What I have painted is optimized for 5th ed still so lots of Chimeras and artillery tanks that no longer exist outside of Forge World. Want to do up some deep striking Storm Troopers and armoured sentinels now that they are both cheaper. Also need some priests and more lasgunners as I am sorely short on those. Since psyker battle squads are useless now I pulled three models from them to act as primaris psykers for now since they are broken as sin having divination.
