I had Bob Ross as my avatar pretty much since I joined Dakka. Only recently I have swapped out to Dr Magnus Pyke (the guy that shouts 'Science!' on Thomas Dolby's 'She Blinded Me With Science') but I expect I will return to Bob and his happy little trees in due course.

4-5 including alpharius shenanigans a couple years ago and christmas avatar in the last 14 years.

My current (and most used) one is a self pic from 2000.

I've had a few, I went through a couple of warlocks when I first joined, then had the same one for a couple of years; I started switching mine every so often (mainly with Sloths) fairly recently, though I've had my current one since christmas because the sloth still hasn't realised it isn't christmas

I should probably change it soon though.

I started with this one and briefly had an unmasked photo of myself in 2010 if I recall correctly. If we're counting Christmas avatars then that's 3 for me.

Avatars are a good way to keep track of people, or where you posted last in a thread. So some consistency is nice. Without having a IRL visual on the people behind the posters, I associate them with the picture we dohave. Changing it up too often muddles my vision of who people are.

Changing mine is something that comes to mind from time to time. I grabbed this pic from an old webpage I put together decades ago, because I wanted an avatar and didn’t want to put a lot of work into getting/cropping/uploading a new pic. But I can never decide on what I want to switch it to, so inertia keeps it up there.

ive really only had two, one was an angry marine for a while, then i found this nice picture of doom rider and i had to keep it! I don't think i will change it though, i'm pretty set on it.

I used to have a Warlord Titan, but i decided to change last year to an old Dwarf Grenadier model from Flintloque that i had painted up.

I think I had two, plus a Christmas variation. It used to be that awesome repentia, and now it is some official artwork from Codex: Sisters of Battle (the only one, not the Witch Hunter or Adepta Sororitas or white dwarf article or any ersatz). I want to use some angry Sister as an avatar, because I am an angry Sisters player.

I believe I have only had this Praetorian one, though I am not counting variations like adding a mustache or Santa hat to my Melta gunner during special occasions.

On another board I frequent I have used the same avatar for going on 10 years now. Hm. I guess I am a creature of habit.

I had many different avatars in the past (forgot how many), but I think I'll be staying with my current one.

I change my avatars reasonably often.
I've gone through a few as well. Can't remember what my first one was...

I try to use the same avatar everywhere I can online. So, not only is it the same here, it is he same anywhere on the internet.

If you see that avatar it is most likely me.

Not counting Christmas and April Fools avatars, I've only had 3 here, I believe.

Current one I had the longest. My first one was Stewie, the not-so-brave plasma gunner. I had the Joker clapping for just short of a year.

Actually, he is the servant of Death, one of the Horsemen of the Apocalypse in the Deadlands dice n paper RPG.

BTW, I do not have an avatar, as I'm sure anyone can freely tell. One day, I would like to have an avatar, but finding a tin picture of a squid on a hill to use is way too hard. And nobody likes selfies, so I can't just take one, either.

Anyways, I recently changed my avatar to a portion of a painting by Michael Komarck, and I'm planning on keeping it the same for a while. I set the full-sized, uncropped version as my desktop background too, so as you can guess I'm kinda a fan.

I have had a few. I think I started with the 51st Highland division's flash, migrated to a glass sculpture of E.Coli and I currently have a Mandate backers avatar. I'm due a change though.

I have no idea how many I've had. Been here way too long to remember them all, even the ones just from after Yak took over.

I joined in on the "Christmas hats on avatars" thing, but I don't think that counts. I recently switched to one of my Deadzone minis after upgrading to be a DCM. So...2?
