The thing is with deathspitters is they gain 6" of range and they triple the shots. 27 is a lot more than just 9. Although I can see why toxin is really desirable on the assassin. I think I will have to find the points.Maybe just drop the spitters off of one squad.
I know a second flyrant is arguably better, But I don't want to run two the exact same load out. So I like the bone sword idea. I wanted the lashwhip, but its points.....

Deathspitters don't have more shots than devourers....I suggest you read the Tyranid codex at least 2 more times....
I understand not wanting to mirror both HiveTyrant load outs though. For aesthetic purposes. Otoh the only thing an assassin Flyrant is better than a dakka Flyrant for is going after other big baddies. A dakka Flyrant is better for every other reason.
Just my two cents.

Otoh? I'll read now.... Automatically Appended Next Post: Just read, I stand corrected, do you not think the +1 strength is worth it? Automatically Appended Next Post: Also, I want the assassin flyrant for that exact purpose. I need something for taking out other big baddies. Especially in a Meta that contains wraithknights, wraithlords, so so many riptides to name but a few. The only thing I would potentially like to fit in is the last whip. Purely to match daemons on initiative...

For me? Sure, +1 St, AP5, only costs 5 points....but if points are tight, 10 or 15 points might be better spent elsewhere...
I like the Winged Assassin, but that is why I build him out at 230, so somebody else can modify with ease.

Ok, I have dropped 3 death spotters from 3 warriors. That has given me toxin sacs AND allows me to upgrade to a lash whip and bonesword from just bone swords.
Sound good?

There ya go. The build I think you're honing in on is still what you want AND has a very efficient use of points.
For me, the +1 S is rarely worth it. I of am the mindset that more bodies over upgrades.
Play it and see what you think about it. Make sure you play it for at least 5 games. If you want it to be "your list" you should avoid making any changes to rashly.

Yeah definitely, though I've just read some articles about "smash" being majorly nerfed. I need to read this before I buy anything. Could make some major differences to the list since I'm currently relying on smash to tear open vehicles....

If it's true (and it seems like it is... ) it is a major issue for MC based armies. But it does uphold the honored tradition of mess up Nids.
It kinda looks like Crushing claws will become a "thing". Though, I look to be ahead of the curve, with my odd obsession with Electro-bug Hives...
The simplest action to take is adding Carnifexen, hardly the worst choice you can make...I guess the sales fig. were disaponting?
It should only be an "issue" with Heavy Vehicles that have all around armor, as CC hits the rear. Walkers are an exception though, so we might start seeing Dreadnoughts return to play. Other than Blood Angels super claw Dreads I don't expect it to be much of an issue, unless CSM suddenly start going all "Helbrute Spam FTW!!!"

Perhaps the haywire templates the MC's can take could help? Automatically Appended Next Post: The thing is with crushing claws is the unwieldy part....
....old one eye could be interesting now. As might haruspexes....they're not terrible.but the carni might be a better choice.

Yeah, as I said, Electro bugs are my go to solution for vehicles. A Carnifex Brood is real pricey, but you get a lot for it. Zoeys are annother one of my favs, and they should be better than ever in the new "Psycho" phase And they can Lance pretty well If they can get close...

For Unbound? Why not But I can't see it as being better than a Screamer killer, or a Wreaker Node Carnifex.....(because it occupys a HQ. )
"Expresso" Screamer-Killer Carnifex, Adrenal, Bioplasma... 155 per? D3 HOW, St 10 on the charge, and a possable Plasma blast (if it doesn't just scatter out of sight ) I figure that should mess up about any Vehicle you run across...
