I have no experience with the Tyranid codex, but I'd like to try running drop pods and assault bugs. The pods can provide a distraction while the bugs hustle up field to tear mine enemy into bite-sized pieces.

Yeah, but he gets a reroll right? Is fair

I don't think the combo would work as well with Eldar I think that Crucible is only worth taking because we have so many tools to feth with Psykers LD in Tyranid. Well if you are running a Seer Council you probably have Horrify on at least one of the Warlocks.(-3 to LD). Seems strong to me, especially against another council. LD 5 Warlocks would probably get wiped. Add a Hemlock Wraithfighter to force the rerolls. Also, throw in a few Psychic Shrieks for good measure.

Fluffwise and modelwise, IG (representing a Genestealer cult shortly before they're digested into biomass by the ungrateful Hivemind) is definitely the best option.

Oh well there you go! I'm not 100% familiar with the Eldar Dex yet. That actually sounds ridiculously strong.

Keep in mind though, that Crucible specifies ALL psykers, not just enemy ones! If your Psyker happens to be in range of the 3D6 (a pretty large variable range) he's taking the same test!!! Tyranids can avoid this risk by deepstriking 3 Shrikes or just flying them up the board for easy mobile Synapse - although, our own tests will likely with max leadership so chances of failing are pretty low. The item seems useless by itself in the DE dex but with the right ally combo it could definitely be strong.

P.S.A. I won't read your posts if you break it into a million separate quotes and make an eyesore of it.

Except that your opponent can dispel horrify on 4+'s since you are casting it on a psyker with a lvl 1 warlock psyker. Can you give the crucible to a guy on a jetbike? seems like that would be required with the average 10.5" range on it.

Regarding Tyranid allies, all the sitw MC will count as enemy psykers because of 'come the apocalypse', meaning that they could have to take Ld tests too (depending on your range roll for the ability and your placement for sitw) which could backfire (albeit quite unlikely if you are careful).

Could be nice though risky and totally reliant on your opponent actually fielding psykers to be of use.

No, unfortunately DE do not have a jet bike character for Crucible

As said about the Psykers though, if the risk of rolling 11 or 12 on your Flyrant is too much for you (barely a risk at all) , then Shrikes are our mobile Synapsey non-Psykers, who move at 12" and also DS reliably being a 3 model squad cost only 100 PTS with a bioCannon (and tear up CC really well the next turn).

It's a shame Shrikes aren't just a wing upgrade for Warriors though, I'd happily pay the extra 5 points that they used to be for Superscoring and unlocking the Living Artillery formation.

And yeah, the Eldar one is a bit gimmicky. Ours is more reliable with all our negative LD modifiers being passive, spammable AOE's, or just a pregame nomination similar to a negative Warlord trait. I don't think it's all that dependant on your opponent as almost everyone has Psykers. And the ones that don't can eat 18 TL Splinter shots and a DL at BS 4 + Shattershard template. No Riptide wants that and the template owns pathfinders if you'd rather. Might not be as great vs non Psykers but it should still do... Stuff

I really want to know how this is going to work out; out of curiosity. I bought my knight way back when they dropped, mostly for apoc games (and they were just so cool) and I haven't even thought about running them with my 'nids now in 7th...

First off, I double checked the points of Knights and they're 30 more than I thought. So I would have to drop the 15 gargs down to 10. I'm taking some time to get used to the rules first before I start buying that many new big expensive models, but I would like to try it at some point this summer.
