Is it just Rangers/Pathfinders?

Also compared to the other major craftworlds, how hard is it to paint Alaitoc?

Illic Nightspear. How much fluffier can you get?

Painting? Not that hard I imagine, no different than other craftworld colors like Iyanden. Actually come to think of it, Alaitoc is the exact same as Iyanden, only reversed. Otherwise their aspect warriors are the same pain with only slight details for their craftworld colors as is normal for aspects.

Also, no, fluffy Alaitoc would not even be close to ranger spam. By and large, Alaitoc is "normal" for Craftworlds. Average amount of Aspect Shrines, average amount of of the dead, average amount of vehicles, etc. The only special thing I can think of is taking Eldar Corsair allies using the Corsair conversion kits from Forge World coupled with Rangers as allies. But as the main army, Alaitoc does indeed field its fair share of Aspect Warriors, Farseers, and Wraiths.

Hell, the best way you could describe Alaitoc is that they're the Ultramarines of the Eldar. They're only associated with Rangers and Corsairs due to prominence of the Path in Alaitoc life, which thus causes a larger amount of satisfied Eldar to leave the craftworl and trod the path of the Outcast as Rangers, or become Corsairs. But they aren't an army of rangers or corsairs.

Anything you can take in Codex Eldar is fluffy.

Unless you're playing a million point game or something, your men represent only the tiniest fraction of Alaitoc's military forces. Sure Alaitoc has more than the average number of Rangers, but who's to contend in this particular battle, they didn't send about 40 Avengers instead.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

When people ask, "What's the point in understanding everything?" they've just disqualified themselves from using questions and should disappear in a puff of paradox. But they don't understand and just continue existing, which are also their only two strategies for life.

Summoning deamons would be pretty forbidden...

Well with 7th ed its pretty much anything goes but daemon summoning would be very fluff breaking in my view.

Rangers with Illic Nightspear a must.

4 wave serpents with dire avengers, 2 wraith knights, couple squads of wind riders, a trio of war walkers or Hornet light tanks from forge world
Warp Spiders cause they are so mobile and mean. Seer and council maybe an Autarch too. 20 guardians with 2 weapon platforms to hold a back to midfield objective.
Some people like the wraith guards but then you'd need a couple more wave serpents to get them into the fight because of their short ranged weapons.

That is the jist of what I'd do for an Aliatoc list that is fluffy.

Alaitoc has a very balanced army throughout, though it does make heavier usage of rangers and pathfinders than other craftworlds.

Otherwise, the Alaitocii army makes full usage of the Eldar arsenal and isn't particularly weighted to the extent that Iyanden is weighed to Wraiths, Ulthwe to Guardians and Psykers, Biel-Tan to Aspect warriors, and Saim-Hann to Jetbikes/things that go fast.

Tactically I suppose that an Alaitocii army would have a slant towards stealth tactics over the more ostentatious displays that other craftworlds may use. Whereas Biel-Tan may decide to mercilessly crush and butcher an opponent in a frenzy of Khaine's wrath, the Alaitocii army may instead prefer to set up ambushes, bleed out the enemy, strike at weak points with unerring precision, assassinate or remove key assets of the enemy, and then finally finish off a now crippled opponent who has essentially lost the battle the moment it began in earnest.

Well, if we go with the old Alaitoc rules from Craftworld Eldar, the only restriction is you can't include more of the following unit types then you have Rangers or Pathfinders units: Guardian Defenders, Guardian Storm squads, Guardian Jetbikes, Vyper Squadrons. So if your army includes three Rangers units and one Pathfinders unit, you can have a maximum of four units from the lsit above (four in total, not four of each).

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Note that Wraiths are only used in desperate situations outside Iyanden, for a few reasons.

Fluff-wise, Wraithknights wouldn't be in the same battles as Rangers (Rangers work with the first wave, Wraiths are part of the omg-we're-boned-everybody-else-died wave).

Not too hard, and it should look very nice. I would build with two units of Rangers/Pathfinders, and little to No Wraith units. Not too hard to do, as Eldar have very nice Tanks, and Dark Reapers can do very good work. A sqd or two of Walkers, a Fire Prism (or two) a couple of Wave Serpents full of Avengers, it's all good.
