Hi guys!
we got a bit wild designing new 4x4 wargaming mat. Would appreciate any feedback. would this fit into your universe?

Looks like you got a little bit too wild designing the mat! It looks nice but there is a lot of detail on it that will probably just end up being covered by terrain. Most Infinity tables will have a lot of terrain/ buildings on them so adding extra detail to the mat probably isn't necessary. I saw your thread in news section and thought something like the 'Mayhem Gate' mat (without the chaos star/ skullz) would work for Infinity. The best thing about the mat is the slightly random design as anything too uniform (e.g. 1 foot x 1 foot squares) makes judging distances a lot easier.

Looks like something I'd bang together with the old Starcraft map editor. I like it! Only problem I can see is that the "metal deck plating" ground limits its utility with a lot of terrain.

Like watching other people play video games (badly) while blathering about nothing in particular? Check out my Youtube channel: joemamaUSA!

Fitting in the infinity universe isn't hard, as the terrain runs the gamut from clean to dirty urban, forest, snow, desert, ship interior and more and has a generic sci fi look. The only terrain type that doesn't fit is the super alien Tyranid/Xenomorph type look, as those sorts of aliens aren't around the Human Sphere (though maybe on the Combined Armys side of the Acheron wormhole).

As metal deck plating goes, it's generic enough to fit any setting, and there's not much in the way of ship interior mats at the moment. So it fills a vacant niche. I'll echo bantha_beasts comment that it does have a little too much detail, which just won't be seen.

thank you all! I think mostly about the middle section as it is maybe too contrary to the rest of mat? I mean this "Z" "kind of road" which comes from left to right. I think we may just kick that part out and keep plain iron plating all over.
Details could stay, it is no harm if not seen, covered under terrain. But where they would be seen it could be nice and added value
and second question fo you please: what about this quite natural mats? We plan to make 4x4 soon as well

I like the "desert" mat. I'd deffo consider that one.
Maybe make a double sided one?

I may be an donkey-cave, but at least I'm an equal oppurtunity donkey-cave...

Does the logo/name appear on the actual mat?
(Not that big in the centre obviously)

Desert one is pretty cool.

I'd suggest something that looks like a big parking lot. Something that would work well with buildings of any modern or Sci-fi could be put on.

yea something simple, no roads. so you can place terrain building in any place

Looks really good, I agree having just a generic-style future ground surface could have applications for both Infinity and some other games.

Key point is going to be price also.

I'd argue all road. Just a huge tarmac mat. Then people can use it as the road base and let their buildings and sidewalks determine the layout.

this is how we look with some Infinity gaming - the Tricity mat

I like it. I think it looks good with the terrain on it. And taking the 'road' off was a good move. I'm not keen on some other mats i've seen with a fixed road pattern on as there are only so many ways you can lay out your buildings without it looking stupid i.e. blocking a road off. Also the random pattern shouldn't effect eyeballing distances or make it easier like a grid layout would.

Thank you! I agree 100% that roads are limiting too much the layout of game.

An idea could be is separate smaller mats for roads. They could then be placed however you like.
