So
Another blow to already struggling tyranid.
our last working units, FMC, got hit by nerfbat . again.
Since FMC only make 1 vector strike hit (correct me if I'm wrong) vs ground targets, does it makes Hive crone ( a vector-strike based unit) suddenly useless?

No but it does mean that you're going to have to rely on the tentaclids and that suckass drool cannon for everything.
150 points for two haywire shots at BS3 and one S8 hit per turn that can be blown out of the sky by autocannon fire with ease aww yiss.
The Crone is still basically an autotake though because Haywire is the last form of reliable ranged anti-tank the tyranids have thanks to the new vehicle damage table making HVCs, Impaler Cannons, and Rupture cannons suck eggs and the Warp Lance receiving a triple nerf in being reduced to AP2, the new vehicle damage chart, and the new psychic rules.
Your comp Tyranid lists should consist of nothing but Skyblight swarms with dakkarants and EGrubs, minimum rippers, single zoanthropes to throw dispel dice and nothing else, and as many extra dakkarants and crones as you can.
Disregard everything else in the codex.

What are the stats on the Drool Cannon? I ask because I watched a bat rep from MWG the other night, and it looks like it's at least a turret, if not a torrent weapon. And then I wonder specs.
Honestly, and I know there is some pretty big differences, but this sounds a lot like what the Heldrake is going through, except ya'll got to keep your haywire missiles, which I guess isn't saying much since you're paying extra for it.
As for VS, you can still VS other aerial units like normal, unless the Crone couldn't before. ;>>

S6 AP4 normal template no turret.
It's a very slightly improved heavy flamer.

Yeah, Hive Crone just went from "must take" to "Good idea to take" I expect to see Hive Crones ripping around and making trouble in the future. The Drool Cannon, is kinda the Acid spray found on Tyranofexen. It's a very good anti infantry weapon, and got an upgrade vs Forts, and open tops.

It's "turret" in the sense that the Crone isn't a vehicle, so it can shoot 360°.
It's still not a saving grace

You say Acid Spray Tyrannofex.
I say "overcosted hellhound that pays for durability it's not going to use because no one's dumb enough to waste firepower on it when it's not that killy unless they have sufficient firepower to put it down easily."

Maybe its a meta-thing, but my Tyrannofex always does serious work. Last night against Tau, I dissolved a unit a pathfinders in Ruins, followed by a Firewarrior squad the next turn. My opponent conceeded, but he was ready to charge another squad and do some more damage next turn.

Advice like this is terrible (sorry Kain you know I like you but this is too short-sighted IMO). Spam flyers and cheese your wins, oh what's that your core flyers got nerfed in doing their role, just spam them anyway because writing a list iz hard.
With the Vehicle changes and Vektor Strike changes, and restrictions to FMC assaults, Skyblight has a much harder time putting down Vehicles. With Vehicles being spammed su much heavier in 7th, this is an issue, and spending 300 pts on Two harpies just may not be acceptable anymore. That's two Daakafex right there and the third Flyrant is 2 barebones Fexes. With Master of Ambush being somewhat close to re-rollable autowin trait for a good walking list, I would say there is many more options - Skyblight is a good one, but it's important to read the codex. You are paying a lot of points for that 6/6/6 +2, which is why I feel like they are best used with regen at lower points values where it's harder to focus them down in a turn. 2 of them at 1000 points is going to brick the feth out of anything. Other than that I agree, similar to the Tervigon it's a great tool for lower points games that quickly became overcosted in larger ones.

P.S.A. I won't read your posts if you break it into a million separate quotes and make an eyesore of it. |
