Just want to know how fast Rippers can move and are they worth taking now?

Depends on their unit type, but they either move 6 or 12 inches. What does your codex say?

As for worth taking, they don't one-hit-KO tanks or infantry, so probably not.

Rippers are Swarms and move just like infantry I'm fairly certain. so they only move 6".

There are a few uses for Rippers. Most people will say they are useless but it depends on the setting they can definatly perform very well in certain situations. Competetive play wise however I wouldn't be taking Rippers.

But as a DS'ing suicide unit they can be pretty fun. Maxing the squad out with spinefists and DS can actually do much more damage to low T models than you think and if your opponent ignores them it can bit them in the rear, or they can die from blasts the turn they arrive. But thats the way of DS suicide units i suppose.

So yeah. I do enjoy using Rippers, they can be good if used right and they are definatly A LOT of fun in friendly games.

Rippers have no special abilities concerning movement.

I'm going to disagree with flukezor on most of what he said. Rippers are perhaps the best troops available to nids in 7th. I expect the min sized units with DS will be the most common choice because of the deployment flexibility (tactical objs.) and the fact that the fair better out of synapse than other comparable choices.

You can put wings on 'em, and they become FA?

Actually, those aren't rippers. They are under a totally different entry: sky slasher swarm brood.

Yes they do. Swarms 'are not slowed by difficult terrain." So they move 6 regardless of the terrain and are not slowed on the charge.

Swarms is a special rule, not a unit type is it? The Necron scarabs are actually unit type Beasts, with the Swarms special rule. So they move like beasts 12" and have Fleet.
