Can I just do this for all my armies?
Chaos Daemons. Building: How can I convert these new Pink Horrors to look like the old twisted models that were pulling two smaller creatures from their mouth. Painting: How the heck can I paint something garish but not too garish, abstract and shifting yet not? Playing: Random roll time! *rolls 100 dice before anything else can be done*
Chaos Space Marines. Building: Come on let me put you toge-*stabbed by spikes* GAAAAAH. Painting: Well out of metallic paints. Playing: *Flips to Tzeentch*
IG. Building: Resist urge to try to kit bash wildly especially with chaos and greenstuff. Painting: So. Many. GUARDSMEN! Playing: Hold on friend, I must move all of my conscripts slightly and the rest of my guard. Now I must shoot my dozens of dice multiplied by FRFSRF.
(Those are my main armies at least)

I think mine has to be the legions of guardsmen I had to build/paint, because the GW kits suck ass. Seriously? I have to make 100 of these guys and the shoulder joints aren't even joints, they're two pieces of flat plastic that you have to hope stick together with enough glue.
Also, the last iteration of the Leman Russ, not the most recent. The old one had those stupid 3D rendered instructions printed in black and white so it made no visible sense. Also, the hulls never fit together, EVER.

People don't like pure Crisis? It's not that strong. In fact it's pretty squishy as no shots against Crisis teams are really wasted.
Anti-Tank shots ID them so the shot is still worthwhile (as opposed to having lots of lascannons and coming up against Green Tide, for example) and if you shoot them with anti-infantry weapons they die just as easily as an equivalent amount of space marines.
Basically it all comes down to moving effectively to limit the positions that the suits can jump back to safely. Anti-guerrilla tactics, surround them to remove their ability to evade your fire via terrain or by outranging you, then annihilate them.
All good points, its mainly the fact that I have at least x1 or x2 Riptides to back up the rest of my army and the fact that a lot of people here "Tau" and immediately freak out and cry Cheese or its OP, ect. The good news is that the majority of players at my store are really good players and I don't have to worry about it, just one or two.

Oh, reminds me, one the Space Marine Rhino-chassis vehicles had its instructions printed with the treads facing the wrong way. One end of the tread pieces has three prongs, the other end has two. They only fit one way on the model, but you don't discover that until you get to get to trying to fit the very last piece between the inside and outside pieces of the sides of the vehicle. And they printed the instructions with the treads shown the wrong way around.

I would not look forward to having played Sisters of Battle since 200...7? 8? I dunno, and then have people automatically think the worst of me online whenever I mention what army I play. Grey Knight players went through that, even the ones who were still using their painted metal minis.
Well, to be fair, Sisters are already pretty dang good (at least in my opinion). It's just that not many people play them, so the majority of the internet is not familiar with how much pain they can deliver.

I'm not sure if this is the one competitive build, but my friend runs a gigantic blob of Sisters with Celestine, an Inquisitor, a couple Priests of some kind that give better invulnerable saves (which of course are re-rollable). Not Mech Guard, but specially mechanized veterans, its a pet peeve that it eclipses the platoon as the best choice. It disappoints me to see someone's army and there are minimal veterans in chimeras with allies. Back in 4th ed I ran a proper Mech Guard army, looked nothing like the nonsense you see on the table now. But that is a reflection of the game, not the background.

With all my armies, I hate painting them.
Thing is, I enjoy painting a few models - and characters in particular - but after that I just lose interest.
For the most part, I like painting various details and effects, but hate the process of applying the base coat to every model. In particular, painting identical models (e.g. Necron Warriors) gets very dull very quickly.
In terms of playing them, what makes me sad is that I want to run a footslogging army, but I feel like I'm being pushed more and more towards needing to buy several transports. I guess it'd be nice if I could play a footslogging list without feeling like I'm handicapping myself.
Also, my Necron Overlords can't hit the broad side of a barn-door with their warscythes.
