Every Shieldmaiden starter army is eligible to 2 free boxes of Warmaidens, thus 2 starter armies qualify for 2 boxes EACH. Note that this is STARTER ARMY and not RAIDING PARTY.

Yep you do need to be "Gold level" which is only $95! I was very surprised they are being that generous!

Lord. So I could get 2 Dragons, 5-6 Characters, and 160 Shield Maidens for $190 right now? For a single super pledge that I picked 2 starter armies from?

Wow, that seems over the top so hopefully they don't hurt themselves by doing it.

They did mention in the comments that once the tooling is done, there's not a huge difference in throwing in a few extra sprues when you're ordering really large batches, and since Shieldwolf seems in it for the long term with these kits, I think it's quite cool they're doing this.

If this gets even more momentum behind it I can see this going far beyond CMON levels of loot.

I'm alright with that.

Looks like we shot past it, I suppose the extra freebies helped a fair bit GJ team!

Where it may get tricky is if they give in to the requests in the comments to be able to exchange stuff

it's all very well and in theory one $9 mini or $20 box set is the same as any other, but paying the people to make the swaps takes time and money

and the more choice there is the more there is to go wrong (look at Mantics picking and packing)

while giving free stuff away may not be a problem paying lots of postage to fix packing errors compounded by letting us swap stuff possibly would be

(much as I might like to swap stuff myself)

Yeah, I used to almost demand to swap things but it slows things down massively and increases the error rate. I'm good with set packages and then add-ons now.

Sprues are cheap evenif GW likes to act otherwise, but I expected getting some mountain orcs for free, not TWO BOXES of a yet untooled kit!

I guessed 50k or 75k as the dollar amount of the SG on KS, what are you guys expecting? I think it depends on how much cost they're eating on the resin stuff in the original 30k funding goal.

I'm going to make such a cool swanmaiden warband (sith a single Archaon-sized swan knight dude as their mounted bruiser), lots of Tharn ladies and a Lagertha tribute force out of mine \m/

Looking for a Skaven Doomwheel banner to repair my Nurgle knights.

I think the cost on the resin stuff (of which I think only the shield maiden characters don't exist already) is minimal. I feel like 90% of the initial fund is for tooling and a solid production run. Meaning I expect the 2 free boxes to fall into the 40k area at most. I expect not to see the next Plastic Kit until around 60k though with 1-2 resin kits between.

I also doubt we will see another Plastic kit for another 20k or so, but theres still plenty of stuff they can do. The resin shieldmaiden bear riders, more stuff from their store and even something new as a addon like the Yak was.

Glad you liked it, there was anxiety whether people would like it or not, it seems they do! :-)

Also, made it in time to read the comments above, most of you are spot on regarding the lay-out.

Let's see where this leads us, the more people jumping in, the easiest for us to keep the flow. And like you said about the Battle Yak, oh yes, we got things you're pretty sure you're not expecting! :-)

I still can't believe we get the freebies PER SET, rather than per pledge. Amazing!

If we start unlocking Orc freebies as well, 2x starter set for $190/$200 is going to be absolutely bonkers value.

Yes it will, but we have to unlock the Orc kits first, and the Orc supporters seem less in number than those who pledge for the ladies... ;-)

Also, the tooling of the 3ups for the Orcs is ready, so the investment has been already made (and it surely didn't come cheap), so it's a one-way road for us to unlock these too!

It's a hell of a lot of freebies, but it makes sense if you think about it - it stops people having multiple pledges of, say $100 or $200 value as happens in other campaigns when they do that with freebies. It's also very similar to CMON and Mantic's (very successful) approach where you can pledge for multiples of their various "core" pledge levels and get multiples of all of the freebies attached to each.

In turn, it makes "another core pledge" a very attractive add-on for existing backers. Much better for Shieldwolf to get backers adding $100 or $200 chunks than $9 ones.

Orcs are my jam, so I hope we get the Valley Orcs unlocked, but I understand it's a process.

The Maidens are really nice though, my missus is well chuffed

I'm totally down for Valley Orcs, way more than the Shieldmaidens.

However I've come around to the Maidens and am starting to think of projects I could use them for and am genuinely looking forward to them now.

I'm just looking forward to the two handed weapon ones. I love the ones shown already but I want some two handers. And I'm also eager for the valley orks. Armored orks are my favorite orks.

Depends if the other starter armies we have planned for get unlocked or not.

Maybe I'm missing something but why would unlocking other starters effect providing an addon for models you are already offering as part of the raiding party ? Or is that just your way of saying be patient you have a plan. Course I'm hoping the bear cavalry are one of those two add on stretch goals between now and 60k. A man can dream cant he.

Reading through the rulebook -

I realise you will be ultra busy but where is the best place to send any noted errors etc- eg: p4, last paragraph, 8th line - coltivate should be cultivate I think.

I will be using these for KoW. Is there no dedicated missile troops for the Maidens' then?

Only the Rangers that I can see......but then Viking style armies are not known for their missile troops

Bit OT, but actually, the Viking bowmen weren't too shabby. Or rather, a lot of the fighters had bows, too, and knew how to use them.

Hmm I didn't know that I always figuered they would have some as hunting would be a good skill but that it was not a big part of how they waged war - but i guess they were fairly pragmatic about most things so it makes sense.
