well basically, if you take em on honor guard your getting a unit that's 10 points cheaper per model that has more options in melee, potentially a safer more reliable deep strike (with drop pod), ranged weaponry (bolters) and potentially more melee potential (by buying a banner for +1 attack) compared to thunderhammer termies.


Your also adding huge durability to Cent devs with the 3+ invun and since the restriction is only on heavy weaponry, they can still pump out their grav cannons and hurricane bolters with no penalty.

Tac squads with 3+ invun make them ridiculously good at doing MSU objective secured troopage.

So definitely a problem with the my wording then. Too much of a distribution across the entire army.

Perhaps limiting it to HQ, Elites, and Fast Attack and excluding units like Centurions?

I think swapping out a bolter of bolt pistol for a boarding shield would be cool.

Mabey just limit it to 1 unit per CAD. Having that many 3++ marines is really hard to deal with for any army.




I still want a chapter tactics that reduces the cost of pistols to 7 points for HQ's and VV though. Not sure if you would need to add anything else to it or just make it a minor trait.

I still think most of the gear for Vanguard Veterans is overpriced, though I think thats a completely different issue entirely.

Yeah, was thinking that if Tactical Squads can take it, that they should have some downside when doing so.

"Any Tactical Squads in this detachment consisting of ten models may entirely replace their boltguns or bolt pistols for storm shields at 10 points per model. Any Tactical Squad upgraded in this fashion have the Bulky special rule, may not take any Heavy weapons, and may not run or perform sweeping advances. Note that Tactical Squads upgraded in this fashion may not take a dedicated transport."

So the squad would have some major trade-offs for getting that boosted durability.

No, I have the Supplement already. Just have yet to add them yet.
