I don't recall seeing this already, in Wayland games' newsletter they are selling discontinued GW paints, don't know if this means Wayland are stopping selling them or if GW is actually stopping producing them.

I saw that and was wondering the same thing - its all the brand new technical paints GW spent months telling us were amazing. . .

Wouldn't the Games Workshop web store be a better source of information on availability?

They're all still up on the GW site, so luckily they seem to be sticking around. I need to pick up the rest at some point.

Not really; if they are to be discontinued they'll just disappear at some point when it's too late to grab any.

Waylands includes the starter paint sets as well, so I wonder if they are just getting repackaged.

The way I read the Mail I thought that they are selling the "old" paints once again from old stock or something (Blood Red and so on). When following the link though you get the technical paints and some old paint sets... Kinda baffled there since I thought the initial reception of the technical paints was rather good and I actually like to work with them.

Plus, all the new videos they have been putting out have featured the technical paints. I don't see them going away any time soon.

they are not. I just asked the Games Workshop hobby store guy, as I'm in a gw store right now.

It might be similar to the edge paints that were gone and later restocked.

They only recently redid the paint racks to include these paints. I don't see them going away.

Probably this is Wayland discontinuing the paints , and not GW.

Do any of you actuall y use them besides the agrellean earth? What do you use them for? The earth stuff I bet you could find something similar for 1/100 of the cost in a local home supplies or art store, if I knew what I was looking for

Unless of course sales have been crap and a bean counter has decreed that they must be scrapped to cut costs.

Anyone got some anecdotal evidence? Are the paints popular at your stores and with the painters you know?

Yep, he used Typhus Corrosion in the new city board video and several IG videos, as well as BFTBG in one, I don't remember which.

The paranoia within GW goes so far so that one department does not know what another department is doing. Just because something is used or mentioned...doesn't mean it won't be discontinued next week.

That isn't to say that they will or will not be discontinued (have no inside knowledge of GW's paint sourcing) but if the bean counters determine that the margin is not high enough to keep the SKU in circulation, it will be cut...regardless of how many videos, articles or books have featured the product.

I'd be disappointed if this is true. I'm having a lot of fun experimenting with the range.

I quite like them, myself. The Cracked Earth paint is the only one I don't have. Apparently Vallejo will be bringing out a knock-off range as well.

I use Blood for the Blood God.

From their Technical range I use: Typhus Corrosion, Ryza Rust, Nihilakh Oxide and Lahmian Medium. All of which are brilliant. I'll be one sad panda if they disappear.

I sure hope not: I regularly use Typhus Corrosion, Agrellan Earth, and Nurgle's Rot. They're all amazing. I haven't picked up any Blood for the Blood God, but I hear it's equally useful.

I fething love the Typhus Corrosion paint for painting tank tracks. Just brush it on straight from the pot on a metal basecoat and your tracks really look from a real tank, albeit actually made out plastic.

Used Nihilakh Oxide, Blood for the Blood God, and Agrellan Earth. They are all fantastic paints and the Nihilakh Oxide I mixed with some glow in the dark acrylic which was pretty cool and I started putting it on almost all my models (well, at least my Necrons). Hope whoever has them now appreciates them :/

I'm figuring they're just going direct only. They haven't even been out for a year.

I picked up a clear crackle paint atmy local hobby lobby. Mixes well with other colors, and had the exact same effect as agrellan earth, and you get almost ten times as much for the same price.

I picked up their snow paint, just to try it out. I know a DKoK player who uses the cracked earth paint for his bases. It would be a shame if they went away, I really liked them.

To clarify, those paints are discontinued either because they are going direct to GW only or because they are a seasonal or limited product such as the Ultimate Paint set.
