From what's been said I don't think FW have any intention of doing any HH era xenos.

Hm... Knights, Solar Auxillia, Mechanicum... what, no Spess Muhreens this time? I thought they'd introduce some more of the Legions. Wasn't there talk that they'd bring back the two lost ones as well?

Every time someone brings up Mk VIII my heart sinks a little when it turns out just to be idle discussion of how awesome that would be.

I'm guessing the Dark Mechanicum list is in book 5 or 6 then? Was rather hoping it would be in #4.

Looks like they get 63 pages of a Campaign:

Ordered mine as I really want the Knight army list. I may or may not start a small Solar Aux. force if the list looks good, although I'm planning on getting Anvil's Exo warriors instead as I'm not a massive fan of the FW figures.

Yeah, 60 pages of campaign rules including a new city fighting variant and whatever the "strategic raid" variant is. AND a 30k IG army list. This almost makes me want to spend money on GW again...

This is awsome, I had hoped FW would release a Campaign-system for HH but I had not expected it this soon.

Lore-wise I find it highly interesting that they appearantly set the narrative within the Gothic Sector, as an old enthusiast of Battlefleet: Gothic that starchart in the beginning fired a few synapses.

I have a little hobby-thread going in the P&M section. Some say it's the best blog on Dakka, some don't agree, most belive it would be better if I finished at least one project some time this century and not just kept starting new ones.
Check it out, you just might like it.

Nah, hey a ready said on the recent Warhamer Fest interviews that Dark Mechaicum won't really be a hung until either the very end or after the heresy is completed. They're still to early in the timeline for the Mechanicum to have suddenly turned into an army of gribbly Daemon Engines. Like the Astartes, the good/evil versions are still mostly the same.

The special chr listed in the knights section is DRAYKAVAC.

Draykavac revealed his dark allegiance to Warmaster Horus, his loyalty bought with the promise of access to technologies long forbidden by the Emperor.

ie. Dark Mechaicum chr, I recall FW saying that there would be little difference between the two as not enough time has passed to heavily differentiate them. My guess would be some upgrade unlocks or such.

Haven't there been campaigns to run in every HH book thusfar?

Or maybe they've just been 1-off campaigns?

They've all been pretty heavily-themed around Istvaan, although the Strike Force(Kill Team but better) rules can be used for pretty much everything, even 40K forces if you don't deliberately try and build the most broken list possible. Looks like these new campaign rules are going to be more generic "fight a series of Heresy battles" rules.

Damn, I was hoping that the there would be a few more knights in the book, like the warden. Might have to pick this book up. So what is this DRAYKAVAC? Is he an Knight or just one of the mechanicus guys?

Look up a few posts for the Draykavac info apparently (can't verify it personally but azeroth posted some tidbits). As for the number of knights, half a dozen isn't enough? You went from ZERO knights a year ago to now 8+ (don't know if the ones in conquest include or are in addition to the already published FW variants). You've got one heck of a knight household appetite! I love me some space marines (especially HH stuff) but I'm glad they're putting the focus (at least temporarily) on something other than astartes for a book. IMO, both FW and BL are unnecessarily dragging out the stuff to pad their releases for a decade or more. For instance, I would have preferred if Istvaan was just two books and then they moved onto some other theatre (and legions).

Honestly, it smacks of stuff they've made up to keep the HH gravy train rolling on.

At least with FW we know it will be pretty and well executed.

The admittedly pretty models do help to divert attention away from the relatively slow progression of the series. BL doesn't have that luxury; they only (occasionally) have nice covers!

I'm currently converting some space wolf stuff and that animal skull head would be a great bit to have (multiples of!). Out of curiosity, how does that abeyant move? It doesn't have any overly large pack animals to pull it like the holy sled of Santa Grimnar. That must be one of the dark secrets mentioned in the description.

Eh...it seems like it would all fit pretty well within the confines of Vengeful Spirit. I mean, the battle of Molech had pretty much all of this kind of stuff.

I'm getting the impression that the HH books (and I'm at MMPB speed, so no spoilers) is now beginning, at least slightly, to act like those Hasbro cartoon series of the 80s, if you read about some big flier or tank in a HH book, one can bet that one will be able to buy it soon.

EdIt

I'm not being hugely critical of this, just making an observation, it is much less of an issue with all the optional stuff that FW makes, compared to GW proper reaching into a codex, eviscerating it and then selling the entrails back to us in order to have a range of playable options.

I'm mostly interested in seeing the Solar Auxilia list to see what kind of models they're going to get.

I may or may not have an interest in Grav Tanks.

Not enough in this book of particular interest, at a glance, to me to go for a shiny special edition. Will wait patiently to see what it contains in detail. New mission types are of particular interest; Zone Mortalis is cool, but requires three souls value worth of unique terrain to play, but urban warfare? I'm down for a newer version of Cities of Death.

Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.
