Weren't there rumours about a new, small, dreadnought type earlier? This doesn't look small. I was hoping for a tiny dread (possibly based on the RT dread) that could be used as a centurion.

Not a far of it so far, looks kinda stupid from the picture.

I'm going to reserve judgement until I see the entire thing - at the moment, I'm getting a "Space Crusade Dread x Mad Cat mech" vibe from it.

I think the lower torso and legs will make or break the model - I must confess, I'm not really a huge fan of the current "hull"-style torso, but a good lower half might save the model for me.

Looks cool and all, but I do sincerely hope they don't go do legion variants.

I'd like to see something more than dreadnoughts, and that's from someone who loves the Contemptor.

EDIT: Except for a Chaos version, the one thing they really needed to do they haven't. Sure, there's the legion-specific ones, but most of them don't fit the 40k Chaos look, aside from maybe the Sons of Horus one.

I was just thinking FW didn't currently sell enough dreadnoughts.. Glad they're fixing this gap in their product line up.

It's a Contemptor hull with the front part pulled out forward. Which is better than anything else they could have done with the old Crusade dred.

Here's hoping they don't go with the chicken legs, or at least made them double joint.

What we have seen so far I think looks pretty damn good. But the chicken legs were my first thought too...will be interesting to see them avoid it on a fairly top heavy model.

Seriously, I hope it's a bad angle or something, because right now that thing looks awful. Oh well, even FW misses a step once in a while.

Apparently the reboot of the old Space Crusade dreads. I was chatting with one of the FW sculptors at WH Fest (possibly Will Hayes) and we were talking about the Vorax and their passing similarity to the SC dreads. He mentioned that the design might be getting an update soon - I guess this is what he was talking about...

Yeah, not a fan myself. Some old things are classics, some...aren't. Id rather have seen FW do that Jes Goodwin concept that looked like a mixture of the new Contemptor, the old RT dread, and the modern sarcophagus dread, much cooler.

Don't like it at all but I've misjudged at first glance before, will wait to see the whole thing before crying 'it looks like a boat' too often

Hard to judge based on what little we have, but that is certainly too big to be a cyclone missile launcher. Maybe a whirlwind? Or something new?

I realize we don't have a pic of the full model but I'm really not liking it from the view that we have. Also, I'll echo the sentiment that there really are alot of other things I'd prefer FW to come out with rather than yet another dread.

Certainly an improvement on the SC dreadnought imo

... Are those.. a pair of twin-linked heracles pattern Accelerator Autocannons... to complement the missile battery and underslung heavy bolters?

Absolutely not interested and agree with some that FW should invest their energies into other projects ...

Looks like the missiles in the launcher are swappable, so we could see anti air, anti tank and anti personal options if we are lucky.

They sell a lot of dreadnoughts, no brainer release, they will help pay for the low volume stuff.

While I'm not entirely convinced that they needed to redo the SC dreadnought, it doesn't look any less stupid or mechanically unlikely as any of the other box with stumpy legs dreadnoughts. Reserving judgement. Looks like it'll be a firepower monster, though - given what I can see in the pic, it'll be shootier than a Predator. I'm also going to guess that it'll be similar in ruleset to the Mortis variants.

What'll be neat to see is if it will come with other weapon variants, and if it will be restricted to certain Legions.

Interesting.I can't decide how I feel about it yet. Certainly not love at first sight as the contemptor was but I need to see the legs to make a good judgment.
