Pretty meh to me. I really like the contemptor (though not as much as FW, obviously), but this one looks a little too mech/titan-y for my tastes.

Looks like an updated version of the classic Space Crusade Dreadnoughts. Can't say I was ever a huge fan of that model, but I'm digging the look so far. I'm reserving judgement until I see a full pic.

Although, I kind of wish we got a new model that wasn't a Dreadnought.

Yo dawg we heard you like dakka so we put a Whirlwind on your Hydra and your Hydra on a Gyrocopter and the Gyrocopter on a Contemptor because every new release needs to completely outgun anything that came before it.

So I guess we'll get this new Dread, a Venerable version of this new Dread, and then a version for every Legion plus a Chaos-i-fied version for all the Traitor Legion as well.

Would be nice if they did a base model and then sold upgrade kits for various factions/chapters/legions. Add the bits you want, leave off the rest (or split 'em up between models).

Maybe some sort of MC Dreaknight-esq thing?

What would you want to see not related to Marines or the Militarium?

well, everybody else seems to want to reserve judgement - but i don't, it looks absolutely terrible. epic fail. I'm already a bit 'meh' about dreadnoughts in 40k/30k because they don't look like they would actually work and this 'new' dread is no different.

Steeeeerike one!

Hoy Crap! Is that ED-209?

"Because the Wolves kill cleanly, and we do not. They also kill quickly, and we have never done that, either. They fight, they win, and they stalk back to their ships with their tails held high. If they were ever ordered to destroy another Legion, they would do it by hurling warrior against warrior, seeking to grind their enemies down with the admirable delusions of the 'noble savage'. If we were ever ordered to assault another Legion, we would virus bomb their recruitment worlds; slaughter their serfs and slaves; poison their gene-seed repositories and spend the next dozen decades watching them die slow, humiliating deaths. Night after night, raid after raid, we'd overwhelm stragglers from their fleets and bleach their skulls to hang from our armour, until none remained. But that isn't the quick execution the Emperor needs, is it? The Wolves go for the throat. We go for the eyes. Then the tongue. Then the hands. Then the feet. Then we skin the crippled remains, and offer it up as an example to any still bearing witness. The Wolves were warriors before they became soldiers. We were murderers first, last, and always!" —Jago Sevatarion

Weren't there rumours about a new, small, dreadnought type earlier?

Quoting myself here. Was there actually such a rumour, or was I imagining it? I am certain that there were rumours of new dread type before this pic appeared, and somehow I have the impression that the small size was mentioned, but maybe I was confused...

I think there was a rumor about a LARGER dreadnought, not a smaller one.

Maybe this one is it?

Can't really get much smaller than the standard Dreadnought. "Angry Washing Machine" is about as small as it gets.

Probably. Look at that thing. Plus the legs probably give it some extra height if it's the chicken walker style.

While I always wanted a redevelopment of the Space Crusade dreadnoughts, until I see more I'm hoping this isn't it, since from this picture it really isn't how I would have (re)imagined it.

I'm sure I'm not the first, but I'm betting the backward bent legs are meant to be be considered goat like and hence this is the previously mentioned "Lucifer" pattern dreadnought.

a while back i went a bit mad with mk5 dreadnoughts and ended up with something looking similarly armed but also could work. i'll get a photo of them and bang it up here to shame the guy that did the sculpt.

i represent loyalist Ordo Reductor and i call techno-heresy on this thing!

That thing is hideous! I think FW has been watching the Dakka thread about anime mecha models for use in 40k and decided they needed something to fit in.

I might get one of those just to paint it up like a Mad Cat from Mechwarrior if it has reverse style legs.

Hmmm, the "Lucifer" has been mentioned a few times recently in fluff, along with plaudits such as "the much-dreaded Lucifer", etc etc.

Smaller than an angry washing machine and it would be the same size as the already well represented in HH Terminator armour, ie Tactical Dreadnought

Very much not a fan, although the missiles launcher looks magnificent and if it's available separately I would buy it in a heartbeat for use on a Whirlwind.

It kinda looks like they used the metal parts of the old Whirlwind and put them on the lower part of the Space Crusade dreadnought.

Maybe it changes into a vehicle to disguise itself from enemy units until it changes back into marine mode to stomp on them. Truly there's more than meets the eye with this dreadnought. It's a brand new concept that Kirby was inspired to bring into the warhammer universe while dreaming.

I had that exact same thought.

As did I, a canopy over the marine helmet with some kind of cylon visor thing at the leading edge would go some way to restoring the aesthetic of the MkX dread, if that is indeed what this is supposed to be.
