Completely different.

Ebola just kills you. Chipola makes you wish you dead.

I don't think it's worth that kind of sacrifice. I just got used to carrying around the Chipotleaway with me.

The deputy, unsurprisingly, did not have Ebola.

At least he got a few paid days off out of it.

There's a nurse in Cairns (near the top right tip bit of Australia) who checked herself into a hospital because she'd been over there, felt a bit of a fever and decided better safe than sorry. Haven't heard if she has it or not (I doubt it, I'm betting just the kind of fluey stuff you get from long plane flights half the time) but the media over here didn't blow up near as much as yours thankfully. It was just a medical professional being sensible and getting herself cleared, nothing to freak out about even if she does have it.

edit: should have googled first, didn't have it in the end. Was the sheriff's deputy who didn't have it in the end blown up around the media, or was it relatively quiet and only the internet really cares sort of thing?

So despite all the "so many more people will get Ebola from this outbreak" talk, we now have less people who were diagnosed with Ebola in the US than we did when the thread was started.

If we're going to, as has happened earlier in this thread, use a count of cases that included people who were treated and lived, and people who caught it in Africa and were brought elsewhere, it only seems reasonable to subtract people who have died, right?

So, zero cases of Ebola in the US?

“It is historical what has happened in this community,” said Mr. Price, who is black. “If a person who looks like me shows up without any insurance, they don’t get the same treatment.”

I feel confident in saying a person who doesn't look like you and without insurance would be treated exactly the same. The US has struggled mightily with race relations in the past and the struggle continues today but the one shining beacon of equality that black man and the white man, the old woman and the young child alike can all be guaranteed the same awful treatment if they get really sick without insurance.

If you're uninsured in the US and get Ebola, brother, you're going to die.

This Is Where the Fish Lives

I'm glad I came back to check this thread as I was sure that we'd all be dead from Ebola already.

It's a good thing Peter was on this flight, he might have had an aneurism.

I for one, applaud the flight attendant for how she described the person claiming to have Ebola:

And some, I assume, are good people."

Good to hear about the Sheriff in Dallas. I'm glad he got checked out. Its better to be cautious than not.

Flu season is going to be a major pain in the ass this year. People in Oklahoma are entering full-blown panic mode because "someone with symptoms of Ebola" checked into a hospital.

Never mind that the flu has the same presenting symptoms, and that we already put people admitted with flu-symptoms into droplet precautions, same as we would with Ebola patients.

The only positive is that I can make fun of all the OU fans that are too scared to drive down to Dallas for the OU-Texas game. They can't claim to "bleed crimson" for the team if they are scared to actually bleed!
