If you don't know the difference, you're allready infected and infecting others!
Ebopla infects people. E-Bola infects threads!

I see - it's a fair distinction.

So the breakdown for the 'Outbreak' in the USA so far is:

1) Man arriving from an African country that actually has an Ebola outbreak arrives in the USA - eventually succumbs to the disease, dies.

2) Two heath care professionals who were treating him contract the disease - Health status? (not dead)

3) No one else has contracted the disease yet?

Am I wrong/missing anything here?

For some humorous perspective just think of it like this; Kayne West has assaulted more people than Ebola has infected in the US

If you count his music as a form of aural assault, Kanye has assaulted a hell of a lot of people

Well, you're missing the bit about Americans growing bored with Ebola "outbreak" news even as some African nations are still struggling mightily to keep their people from dying from the bonafide epidemic there.

But yeah, you covered most of it.

You missed the part where people blame Obama for it because he doesn't care about America and wants us to suffer because of what we did to Africans almost two centuries ago. Also, population control.

Other than that, you nailed it.

This morning the facebook image du jour points out more US citizens have married Kim Kardashian than have died of Ebola.

I thought he hates America because he's a Muslim, and wants to adopt Sharia Law in the US?? (not that I'm discounting he wants "revenge" for 200+ years of European policies on the continent)

I love it when the media creates the "over-reaction" and then turns around and "Tsk-Tsk" it. Like their drive for ratings had nothing to do with the hysteria and over-reporting in the first place.

I'm sure there is some scientific name for this surprisingly cyclical phenomena.

Are you trying to imply that the only thing that creates more ratings than hysteria is hysteria about the hysteria?

How dare you!

It should have said "More people have slept with Kim Kardashian than have died from Ebola."

It's a pretty broad statement to make, but there is a nugget of truth to it.

Western medicine, by and large, is a for-profit industry and while obviously not "responsible" for the disease, they are just as guilty as anyone for not placing that (and other exotic disease) pretty low on the priority list, even though quite a few of them contribute to the miserable quality of life in some of the less glamorous parts of the world.

I disagree. Medicine is a reactive protocol, and one that must address a constantly changing threat. Under those circumstances, prioritizing the most immediate, most prolific threat is the duty of all state medicine. I would seriously question the leadership of any hospital in Liberia that has not set up some specialized ebola wards at this point- and the judgment of any medical director in the United States who felt they needed such an extravagance. When the threat isn't here, the precautions don't need to be.That's why we don't vaccinate for smallpox anymore. It isn't a threat, and so we aren't prepared to deal with it. As the threat has become apparent, the medical complex seems to be adapting existing material and training its responders to deal with the new threat- just as they should.

Nope.

It's just playing the blame game.

If we had history of ebola outbreaks in western world... don't you think there'll be advances in treatment?

That's the point of the sign I would guess.

Although there is probably a giant potential to go off-topic in this thread with that.
