If so, we should just send them enough mails with question for them to matter. Also ask for FAQ update so all those answers become legal. In the age of internet it's pretty annoying waiting months for an answer even more not getting any.

No they don't answer them. Even if they did they are notorious for being incredible inconsistent on their answers

Any rules emails you send to GW go to the mail order guys, not the studio. So any answer you get is worth as much as asking the guy behind the counter in a GW store. Or asking a random passer by on the street.

I've asked the customer service, and they said they aren't answering rules questions, but they gave me the mail address for faq, that may be a better place to start. Here it is if anybody interested: gamefaqs at gwplc dot com, maybe if they receive enough mail they'll have a harder time to ignore their costumers.

Given the "vast" amount of questions that were answered in last week's faq updates, i doubt they pay much attention.

Tried mailing them a while back and got a useless automated answer.

I had this thought that it might be possible to put together a large amount of pressing questions, perhaps taking one of the larger TOs FAQs, taking out all the answers and then organizing lots of people to separately send in the list of questions to GW.

Maybe if enough people asked GW the questions we frequently ask each other they would actually answer?

Actually if people sent actual physical letters to GW there would probably be a response of some sort.

You'd just have to make it a huge volume of stuff. Also I am unsure of the British postal system and the US but it cost like less than 2 dollars ( I think it's closer to 1.25) to send just a normal envelope with a letter to somewhere in the UK. Remember no one really get's snail mail anymore. I don't know the British mail system but getting like 2000 or more letters is really really annoying. Especially if you address it to a person.Online petitions are kind of bunk, but a letter writing campaign is probably going to get more attention this days, just because you have to actually deal with it. Even if it's to throw in the Rubbish bin.

If you addressed it with a clear envelope to make it look like a check, or sent it to the mail order system if they still have that, they'd probably actually open them.

People think " Oh that's not that big a deal", seriously 10,000 letters is a pain in the butt to deal with and it is actually a huge volume.

So say you send 10,000 letters that weigh 1 ounce.

That's 10,000 ounces.

That's 625 pounds. That's a little over a 1/4 of a ton of mail. If you get it up to 40,000 then you'd literally probably be sending 2000 pounds or a ton of mail.

It'd also have to be coordinated across the boards, like you would want a very very specific date to mail them out on.

So the way it'd work is this.

You print up a letter. Say a agreed on topic.

Everyone signs on and sends this letter to them and signs it.

On the same day or week everyone would mail their letters.

GW has a really awesome customer care if people are actually coming up with ideas like this because GW physically can't care less about their player base's opinion....

You send 5000 letters to holding companies and investors that are listed along with GWs mail order service (if they still have one) or addressed to specific people in various envelopes etc.. airing you're grievances.

You'll get a response.

Think about the hundreds of dollars you spent, and then the cost of spending 20 dollars to mail some envelopes.

Which FAQ should we base this on, which is the largest community FAQ?

BAO? Nova? ATC/ETC?

Ill gladly send a list of questions by mail, it doesnt cost hardly anything to do and might provoke a response if we do it.



Zsolt: Dont get me wrong, i love this hobby, ive been in it for over a decade but i dont like it when games cant be finished without large amounts of house rules because of vagarities in the rules.

Any/all FAQs. Likely all contain stuff for good questions.

The game is cool with a lot of flaws, while GW is not.

I've had some good responses when emailing the White Dwarf team (their emails can be found in every WD issue, IIRC). They might not have anything to do with writing the actual rules, but they definitely have insight into future rules and have ways to directly contact the rules team.

In my most recent correspondence with Dan from the WD team, I vented my frustration about the lack of FAQ updates (incidentally, the FAQs then got updated just a couple of weeks later - I doubt there's any causation there, but it was interesting!). He mentioned that he believed most rules issues can be resolved by reading the relevant books properly or coming up with answers with your opponent, but agreed that it is good to have clear rules when going into games against unknown or irregular opponents. He ended the email by promising to pass my concerns on to the rules team.

Now, it's very possible he was just trying to appease me. But I do wonder how the team would react if they received more such comments. It could make a difference.
