The company Pro Gloria is launching a crowdfunding project to make Landsknecht troops in plastic.

https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/plastic-landsknecht-box#

For those who don't know, the Landsknecht troops and others from the same era are the visual basis from which GW made most of their "Empire" range.

The initial sculpts look good so far.

-The base box is 24 euros (around 30 bucks) for 24 figs and includes shipping.

-2 10 man troop sprues and 2 2man command sprues in each box

-Various thematic promotions (t-shirts, dice, art, etc) are available at higher levels and some metal figs are available as add-ons

A few pics of some individual figs (possibly in progress). More on the indegogo site

Oh delightful!

So these were models before and are being translated into plastic? Do I understand that correctly?

They look really good, and I have no problems with IGG, but I think most of the crowdfunding I've seen for plastics have really been hit hard with problems.

“Good people are quick to help others in need, without hesitation or requiring proof the need is genuine. The wicked will believe they are fighting for good, but when others are in need they’ll be reluctant to help, withholding compassion until they see proof of that need. And yet Evil is quick to condemn, vilify and attack. For Evil, proof isn’t needed to bring harm, only hatred and a belief in the cause.”

The legs are a bit too short, as well as the torso's. But as these are supposed to be comparative to GW's stuff, I guess it needs to fit in.

Best of luck with your campaign!

They appear to be a perfect match for Warhammer Empire 5th/6th edition Perry sculpts. Perfect.

Thanks for all your kind words!

The shown lead miniature is from our current range. The shown masters are the 3 UPs. These will be scanned with a laser-computer-thingy and burn in to the steel mould. The plastic miniatures will compare 100% to our lead miniatures.

It is a fixed funding project, so I don't see why Indiegogo should be a problem. Apparently Rendedra is contracted for the job, so no chinese surprises at least.

Couldn't agree more. I have been waiting for this one for some time as I already own a huge French and Imperial/Spanish Army. These guys are awesome and I've pledged already!

I saw these back in July or August and immediately thought they were very nice.

I have no project currently where they could be used however. Still, very good looking minis

I'll echo those saying the proportions of the legs are just a touch too short , but depending on price, not enough to make me shy away.

Other than that they're great looking - if i still played Empire i'd probably go in for a few units.

I will be pointing my empire playing friends to this page though !

These look fantastic!

And things are well on track for the indiegogo to fund as well.

Niccce. Been wondering when these would turn up, too. But like Aesop, I'm not sure what to use them for.

I have to say I'm usually mystified by t-shirts for mini crowdfunders - "look at me, I spent money to buy models, once upon a time!" - but that 'don't mess with the kaiser' is tempting me.

I'm sooo, sooo sorry.

I'd love to do a 16th Century mercenary army, but I don't have the time or the patience to paint these at the moment. They look fantastic.

I'd really like the stretch goal looters though, they are very characterful and fun looking minis, especially the guy stuffing the cross into the bag.

They look very nice indeed. The legs are indeed a little short/disproportionate, but still nice models. Of course, I'm cutting right down on Kickstarters these days, and I won't go near IGG with a barge pole - but I hope it succeeds and I look forward to seeing them at retail.

Interesting update

Basically, change in ownership, project will fail but plastics are going to be made.

If it ends up being a bigger and more established company it will probably better this way anyway.

Hope for the best!

Well, that fell on it's arse very quickly, didn't it? I might buy some if they ever make it to retail, but no way in hell will I be crowdfunding it.

Wow! This sounds like the best possible outcome. I get to buy these beautiful sculpts at retail, and I don't have to spend a couple of years with my money in hostage by people who may or may not have the ability to orchestrate large business endeavors.

I think it's pretty clear that the project under Pro Gloria was not going to be a smooth ride. New owners and a direct-to-retail approach can only be a good thing. But damn, those tiny legs still bother me. It's like Landsknechts via Mantic's proportions.

I accept been cat-and-mouse for this one for some time as I already own a huge French and Imperial/Spanish Army.

That was certainly the best outcome anyone could hope for.
...I just hope they lengthen the legs or shrink the heads

Yeah, it's the best outcome possible, really. As they seem to basically be already sculpted, I can't see a lot of hope for fixing the proportions, sadly.

The only downside I see for the purchase, is sometimes Warlord's metals have a lot to be desired.

It's a mixed bag, really. Their in-house stuff is ace; the ranges they buy from other companies can be hit or miss. Pro Gloria figs are already great, so I can't see it being a problem.

Their metal casting is hit or miss, I have received some fairly bad casts from them in the past.
