Wraithknights in the picture come to 240 each, but whatever. As with all GW games there is some paper rock and scissors going on. For some armies, you don't have a chance, against some others, you finish the game before three turns

Doh. Very true. What do you think would be added with that twenty points?

What are the other eldar units?

Before any kind of theory hammer can happen we need to know all the factors.

I assume that you would need a TAC list to make it to the top table with the eldar.
Yeah, sorry - I am waiting for the TO to get back to me with the full list, when I get it I will post it here.

There were no other real cheese lists, and only one spam list in the tournament (SM Bike Spam), and I think the titan beat it in its last game FTW. I guess the only way to really beat it is with equally powerful cheese - am now thinking three FE burstides, one with ECPA, hiding on their own Landing pad, maybe as a Riptide Wing formation for networked nova? Although i'm not sure you can fit three tides on one pad.....

Your point about TAC is correct too, as almost everyone else put out TAC (ish) lists, so I guess the issue in this regard is how you would have taken it down with a TAC list. Fairly impossible? This is what I bought to the tourney:

Libby, Lv2, Power Armour, Combi-flamer
Libby, Lv2, Terminator Armour, SS, Primarchs Wrath
Scout Squad x 3
DEV squad – 2x LC, 2x ML
Sternguard – 8 man, 4 x Combi-plasma, DP
Dreadnought – TL AC x 2
Landspeeder – MM x 2
Aegis Defence Line - Icarus LC
Legion of the Damned (5 man, MM, MG, Combi-melta) x2
Legion of the Damned (5 man, PC, PG, Combi-plasma) x 2

The only thing that might have done something is the LoTD, as their 3+ invulnerable save means that some of them might have survived the turn they arrived.

I think you pretty much identified the list already from the picture.
Though that was a farseer and a spiritseer. Also one of the wraithknights was Warlord, not the farseer.

I think a lot of the daemons lists proposed were pretty TAC oriented. Flying Circus is still a fairly strong list for daemons. So is 2-3 Princes or Be'lakor and fast cavalry. Most Daemon armies will also pretty much negate the psychic support from the farseer which makes the Revenant a *little* less scary.

Ah, I think that Tyranids flying circus list may stand a chance to not being totally destroyed, it has 4 flyrants which is almost untouchable by the eldars since it has no crisom hunter, not even a single wave serpent. And they stand a slim chance to glance 2 HP a turn due to having 48 TL S6 shots a turn, as statistically 24 S6 hit will strips a HP from the Titan in this list. But will still have a hard time as any other things on the ground will be slain within 2 turns..

I was in that GT as well, but careless enough to not noticing wether this two army met or not.

I haven't fight that eldar, but if I met that eldar army, I am confident in taking out those two Wraithknight, as I was using Tiggy support grav-cent parachute out of Stormraven, which list and tactics are specially anti eldar Wraith unit, and other MC or tanks. But I think other than the two flyer, all other units in my army will be killed at latest end of turn 2, and I have to survive turn 1 if I am going 2nd.

I also think the table set up in this GT should be denser than it had been. On a 6X8 table, there are only 5 piece of regular larger terrain. Only the largest one in the centre count as ruins that can confer 4+ cover, the others are 2 5+ blockades and 2 6+ craters near the corners of table. These table set up definitely benefit the Titan.

A number of lists could take that out in theory, but discussing them would be relatively pointless as the vast majority would far less useful against other loadouts...

I would field my Harridan. Thank you for fielding the statue my Harridan will use as a bathroom.

Now I'm not asking if it was cheesy, against the spirit of the game, or even legal, as in a tournament anything goes and it was well within the rules. The question I'm asking is this - if you had come across it, how would you have defeated it?

How to defeat it? With a baseball bat - those spindly wraithbone joints snap pretty easily. I even play eldar, but the Revenant and T-Ctans are just un-fun to play against.

Seriously though, I think airforce is definatley the way to go. FMC is great, but what about Eldar airforce? Cram enough crimson hunters in there with some DE fliers to actually go after the rest of the army with missiles. I'm not sure if it's good, but it might work. It really stinks that you don't lose the 4++ against units that are also on the Skyshield. If you did, it would be worth WWPortaling in some fire dragons. Melta-bombs anyone?

i would measure a shot near the titan and accidentally bump it off the pad onto the table and hope it shatters.

failing that, i'd play as fast as possible so he kills all my units and i put them in my bag. on the last turn, i'll trip and fall on to the table and watch his titan deep strike onto the board behind me.

While the titan has 4 D blasts, they can only shoot at 2 targets (Heavy 2). This means MSU has a good chance of out lasting opponent. FMC summoners are the masters of MSU and are pretty competative in their own right.

Ignoring the titan is viable option for most armies.

Bel'kor + Chaos Warhound Titan with turbo-laser + inferno cannon or 2 turbo-lasers. Invisibility means that the revenant can't target you and you can happily vaporize the rest of his army.

It is.

That's why GW's profit margin will continue to decline.

Seriously- does anyone at that company play the game? Is it that hard to figure out that if people don't want to play the game anymore they'll stop buying models?

Ha ha, I love how often this suggestion is coming up, and how serendipitous it was that around turn 4 of my first game, my opponents accidently bumped the guy behind him, who bumped into his own table with the titan balanced precariously on it, and sent it crashing into the floor. Not quite deep striking onto the board behind, but certainly an attempt at the shop below. At first the sympathy and remorse was felt and expressed by all. By day two it had all but evaporated.....

So here is a similar 2000 point list I've played against and beaten:

Farseer on jet bike
3 bikes
3 bikes
Revenant Titan

Rune Priest
6 long fangs, 5 missiles
5 grey hunters

Coteaz
3 henchmen

Imperial Knight

Skyshield

The way you beat a list like this is by maneuver. Take out the chaff and avoid engaging the Revenant. Keep your own models at max dispersion to minimize the D blasts (I can generally wiggle bikes enough to limit a large blast to 2 hits) and out of LOS as the terrain and mission permit. Stay focused on the objectives and wait for your opportunity to strike at vulnerable points. I'm very confident I could beat that list hands down with my standard white scars list.

I couldn't agree more - terrain at the GT was very sparse indeed, making an ADL almost a mandatory choice for most lists (had they known before hand that is!). This really didn't help most players, and as if the elevated position and tall model setting of the titan on a pad wasn't enough, there was literally no where to hide. I get that the TO were trying to standardize the terrain across all tables to avoid any suggestions of bias or impropriety, but for me variation of terrain is as much a part of the fun of playing at a tournament as the variation of lists you are coming up against.

The local tournaments around here have specifically stated that the Skyshield cannot support gargantuan or super heavies. Most likely, to prevent shenanigans like this.
