I've never won a game of epic, but then again I que with randoms. Hard mode allows for some difficulty without making too many characters unplayable, and you don't get as many first timers playing (admittedly not as much of a problem this far into the event), so it's my favorite mode.

My one gripe is that all the enemies but the tanks and orisas are hitscan and aren't fazed at all by evasive abilities save tracer's (and even that is kinda situational and buggy), which makes entire aspects of certain characters useless. Pharah's vertical mobility just presents a target to more things, genii's dash puts you in danger more often than not, and trying to flank in general rarely works due to the bot's player detection.

Other than Reaper or Soldier, I would keep most of the attack heros to Normal mode or not at all. Pharah is okay on normal, but as you note, she'll be stuck in the open shot from all sides if she jumps around.

Reaper works okay in that he can heal himself and his shotguns are fantastic against the elite foes. Soldier's DPS and heal are good for the team. However, the attack hero's lower health overall makes them seem marginal.

Junkrat was surprisingly extremely effective on Normal last night. His trap either caught something and slowed it down, or the enemy seems to have a little difficulty targeting it for some reason. His mine helps break clumps up or push foes into an advantageous position, and his area attack main weapon and special are helpful for busting up groups.

True, true. I'd be up for playing if others are thinking of doing so too, but honestly I'm not very fussed; the appeal of skins has mostly died in me, and I've switched back to the classic skins of a lot of the heroes I play.

The best addition from this update is probably a new line for Mercy:

I play HotS off and on, so I'll probably take a crack at the skin. But then again, my favorite D.Va skin is still the Summer Games skin that I got for her back during that event.


I jumped back onto Overwatch last night, since I haven't been on for a while. Took a crack at the Normal difficulty PvE event. Unfortunately, just as we made it to the end (the last two targets had just spawned), Mercy died and the rest of us followed shortly afterwards. I started another game, but the person on Tracer bailed right after the match started, and we ended up wiping while getting the escort ready. The waves just weren't dieing fast enough.

I decided that was enough time spent on it for the evening. The gameplay is fun, but that's a lot of time spent just to wipe.


On an unrelated note, it appears that Blizzard likes the way that the loot system in Overwatch works, because they've switched over the system for Heroes of the Storm to work more like Overwatch. You get player levels every time one of your characters in HotS levels up, and every five player levels gets you a loot chest that works pretty much like in Overwatch. There are some differences (chest duplicates provide just one of three different currencies, for instance), but the overall mechanics are similar.



Also, if you're curious about HotS, they're currently offering the opportunity to get one of four "mega-packs" that contain twenty heroes each just for logging in. IIRC, the offer expires in mid-May.

Yup, I've got no legendaries either (not even legendary coin bundles), and a meagre amount of credits. Something was definitely wrong with the algorithm for this event, or Blizzard decided these skins should be extra legendary

I've gotten THREE Legendary Coin bundles.

The coin amount is pathetic.

I agree; if you're not going to give me a skin that's worth at least 1000 coins, then give me 1000 coins

Or, you know, 500. So every 2 legendary duplicates lets you _choose_ a Legendary. After all, the randomness is 'worth' less.

It seems the overhaul took elements from SC 2 and Hearthstone too. It's impressive and I can get something that was locked behind the monetary wall before, but yeah, it can be difficult to fit games in the schedule. Mildly frustrating if you focus too much on the grind bar that seems to be going nowhere and the thought of missing something cool.

Wonder if Blizzard will do different announcers for OW too.

I really hope whoever wrote the "refund" mechanic for duplicates gets nothing they want, lootwise, in any game they ever play.

Took some grinding but i got everything with some very lucky string of boxies

Again, it has always stunk. I pulled two Blackwatch McCrees this round, two or three Lunar Mei skins in the Chinese New Year, two Santa Clads in the Christmas one.......

Then only getting a pittance for each of those dupes is ludicrous when you want to charge 3k to buy them outright. I don't even play McCree.

The only thing event related I've got was the null sector bastion skin

I got the genii skin, so I consider myself lucky.

The loot system is awful, but on par with most item drop systems in games where items don't fulfill an essential purpose.

I would have liked to get the Mercy and Orisa skins, I play both of them.

Still, the game mode was fun and good co-op maps like that is something the game is really lacking. Yes, you can play vs. AI, but that isn't as much fun. Medium difficulty is not that hard, and Hard is a ridiculous level of auto headshot from the moon the second a single pixel enters the AI line of sight (even if the enemy model isn't turned your way to begin with).

A villain story, stealing something or blowing up something would be fun with Reaper/Widowmaker/Roadhog/Junkrat/Sombra.

I've been playing on normal difficulty and I'm not joking when I say, even playing in a group with a mate, I'd say at least 70% of my games have had 1 player who is either an idiot or a troll.

And I don't mean idiot as in, "they're bad at the game." I'm perfectly happy to deal with people being bad at the game. - *I'm* bad at the game. I mean idiots as in running off by themselves to the a**end of nowhere when we're supposed to meet.


And trolls, so many trolls. People picking a healer and just standing inactive. Or people heading towards the meetup point and THEN running off before the last person arrives.

I've never had to find out what the 'report' functionality did before I played this mode.

Gotten McCree, DVA highlight, Torb Highlight, Genji, Lucio's pose and boop VL and the Orisa Skin, which is the best anyways. I only want to buy the Torb skin. Thankfully the event is extended one day.
