Well here is a little update on my work so far.

Firstly I weathered the legs of all the marines from the tactical squad. After that I started working on my rhino. This first rhino will not feature a working ramp so the interior isn't painted. I started of with a basecoat of army painter dragon red. After that I painted all the recesses black and washed the hull with nuln oil. Then I started with some of the bolts and painted the tactical marking on top. Here are some pictures.

Here is a little update on my progress on my Blood Ravens. Couldn't get to much done this weekend cause I played a lot of descent 2nd edition and had a blast. Although I did finish the rhino so far that it only needs decals, some scribble linings and weathering.
Tomorrow I'll be going to Aachen and going to shop with my girlfriend which also means I can go to the modellingstore and get my stuff. I was thinking of maybe keeping a vlog as well but that is something that I am thinking about and working out. I also got my old terrain pieces out of the box and will be making some terrain in the following couple of days. They won't be spectacular but will look great on a battlefield.

Well I have a question conserning my army. In the future I would like to add some allies to my army as well. But to bind them I want them all fighting in a campaign. Like for example the Siege of Vraks where the emblem worn by all squads through all the armies was a yellow circle with a V and a skull through it. I really love this emblem but I am not sure if it would be correct. I did some research and found out that the Blood Ravens were in that timeline. They were in the vicinity or well at least were close to the eye of terror cause of the 13th crusade where they did take a part in. Siege of Vraks was about 160 years before. So what do you guys think. Could I use this emblem and use it to bind my Allies like Imperial Titans and Imperial Knights to my army?

The colors are what made me paint blood Ravens as well. But your red seems richer than my old marines. How'd you do it if you don't mind me asking? Everything looks awesome btw

Well hello guys.

Wanted to give a quick little update on what was going on with the army so far. Been to the Games Workshop yesterday and went shopping at a local modelstore and got some really nice things to play with. And a nice little order came in the mail today.

So first up the loot I came back with from the stores.


Little summary:
Rhino Transport for my second tactical squad.
Reclusiam command squad.
Dreadnought.
Tamiya masking tape 6mm, 18mm and x-20A thinner.
Citadel 40000 basing kit, barbed wire and some paints.
Army painter winter and fall tufts and scorched grass.
Varnish, pigment binder, liquid super glue and plastic glue.

Next up is the package that came in the mail. A nice lightbox set.

This is the setup that I need to use tomorrow beacuse tonight I'll be working on the 2 tactical squads. Putting on all the decals and campaign markings. And then I can use this setup for tomorrow to try and make some better pictures for dakka. Here is a sneak peek using my desk sergeant.
He has the Vraks campaign mark on his leg. I'm thinking of using this over the entire army.

Well here is a small little update of the army so far. Haven't had much time.

Small little things done now. I have removed the banners. Thought it would look nice but in a war who walks around with banners on their backs. Sure the command squad will have a banner but that is it.
The captain was performing a chaotic ritual and was caught by the compagny chaplain. He put his boltpistol to his temple and took the shot. The captain lay on the floor with his white haze of chaotic aura surrounding him.
The Chaplain took command for now and will be calling in reinforcements in the next couple of days.

Well here is some more build and painted .

On another note. I will be making another blog with all the finished units and characters. Showcasing them all and writing down the fluff of my Blood Ravens Compagny. And the captain was caught in the white haze of the purity seal.

They're pain to store in foam trays, too. You'd have needed an extra big cutout to fit the banner too.

The tactical marines in that picture look great. The really dark red looks great en mass. And the bone contrasts really help.

That's true space marines would wear banners on their backs haha.
Well on another note. I went to play a game yesterday and met a guy who wanted to start out with Blood Ravens as well.
He was looking at the models and was very excited to start out as well. After an hour we started talking and came to an understanding that he wanted me to finish what I had now and sell them to him.
After some thinking I was actually glad to give them a home to a new player. Then I was thinking ok well what if I sell them then what. I'm reading the Space Marine Omnibus and read all the imperial fist stories.
They are a first founding chapter the VII Legion Imperial Fists. I could use pre heresy stuff as well because they would have acces to them. Forgeworld will hopefully make Rogal Dorn as well so I can field a Primarch.
So I just ordered a book and Lysander.

I will finish what I have and put up the finished pictures but the journey of the blood ravens will end for me. It will be continued by another commander.

On the one side dissapointed seeing your blood ravens leave on the other side curious to see how you imperial fist army will turn out

Well I couldn't wait with the Imperial fists so I just used the banner I had lying around and started my freehand standard banner.

This is the image I want to try and recreate for a bit. So here is my W.I.P. banner. I never done something like this before so be gentle with me haha.


@Ayoku: I was a bit disappointed as well but it's for the best. There is a lot more fluff to the IF and they were in the pre heresy which gives me some more options .

Very cool, I always have liked a well painted yellow space marine armor.

This is it I could do for today cause here in the netherlands it's 2nd christmas day which means... More food, more booze and some present from and for my girl.

The freehand is quite fantastic for a first try. I know it's still a WiP, but dont forget to define the leaves on the green a bit more. It kind of looks a green semi circle at the minute.

I echo leviathus with it being a shame seeing the Ravens go... So long as you dont get seller's remorse about them
