I'm painting a steel legion army & am running low on tausept ochre. I'm hoping to get a real first-hand experience with a color that is a good match. It's very hard for me to tell if the equivalent paints actually match looking at swatches on a computer monitor.

Why not keep tau Sept ochre BTW the equivalent from now? Vallejo has a similiar colour called, dunkelgelb german

"Search does wonders"

So does actually reading my post. I asked for real life experience not a compatibility chart. I don't care what a table says because in my 21 years in this hobby I've found that "compatible" & "actually matches" aren't always the same thing when it comes to gw paints. But it was more fun to act superior I suppose.

I would make a swatch on some white cardboard with some of the remaining tausept ochre. Then i would get some of the equivalents on the dakka charter and paint some swatches to compare. I would start with the vallejo gc equivalent, since the are formulated to be close.

I did read your post. Take how you may. I did not act superior. I did not say I was into the hobby for 21 years you did. I could of just said Google it but, sometimes taking a little time to search these forums you can find your answers. The chart was made to help people when asking questions such as yours. Take the advice or leave it.

This may help as well

This Is Where the Fish Lives

I never used the old Tausept Ochre, but the equivalent Vallejo Game Color "Heavy" paints have been pretty faithful matches to other older GW paints so chances are VGC Heavy Ochre would work as a suitable replacement.

It would be worth a try at least.
