Do you think that Eldar are a cheesy army?

Some aspects of the Eldar Codex are cheesy (spamming Wave Serpents or Wraithknights), but a number of the 'power-builds' (Jet-council with attached Baron for example) got nerfed in the change to 7th.

Given that I spent several years with the sub-par 4th edition Codex (and having to prop-up the power level with Forgeworld units like the Warp Hunter), I'm loving actually having enough internal balance to need to make choices when building an army - in the current Codex, with the exception of Banshees or Harlies, almost any unit is valid and can be used well. It's just a case of balancing between how many Wave Serpents to field and how many friends I want to keep.

Yes, it is one of the top Codexes for power, but that's not my fault.

If you're gonna keep making polls like this you should at least listen to feedback from previous ones; your poll is too closed, you need more options. I don't think Eldar are cheesy, but they have some cheesy options and are fairly open to abuse.

If you spam wave serpents with minimal units inside, or wraithknights, you're being cheesy. If yyouuse a couple wave serpent or a wraithknight, you're not.

Grey Knights: Draigowing, Nemesis Dreadknight
Necron: tooled up 2+/3++ mindshackle scarab phlactery Overlord on CCB, Nightscythe
Tyranids: Flyrant with dual twin-linked Devourers and e-grubs
Space Marines: Grav Centurions + Tiggy

Just because you're unhappy with my polls it doesn't mean everyone else is. This is in general. You can answer it however you want; be it based on your local meta, tourney results or whatever.

If you're not happy with my polls, don't vote and don't comment either.

Except other people gave similar feedback in your numerous other 'are ... cheesy?' Polls too, so it's not just me. And its a forum, I can comment on it, I'm not breaking any forum rules, I was trying to give you some feedback. I wasn't even rude about it. So calm down. And I didn't vote, because there isn't an option for my vote.

Yes, people may not know how to respond but most people are fine.

I don't want or need feedback thanks.

I never said that you were breaking any, but all your comment was doing was criticising my polls.

I'm perfectly calm and good for you...

I also gave my answer to the question, you seem to be ignoring that. So I didn't just criticise your poll.

Eldar are not a cheesy army. It's some of the people who play them who make them cheesy.

Are you intending to start an "Are X cheesy?" thread for every faction?

Why not simply create a poll with all the factions and have a "which faction is cheesiest?"

There are Eldar players, and there are Cheesy players.

There are SM players, Chaos players, etc.

Currently, Cheese players break heavily towards Eldar (because we really are OP ATM). It could be any faction, but currently its Eldar.

You get higher post count by doing each one separate. lol

On topic, i agree with cheesy players being the issue more so than cheesy options.

Well imo GW has done a good job balancing the various codex, and the 7th edition game is more resilient to 'power builds' even - but, I believe the Eldar codex is an exception as there are just too many things that are just too powerful in that book.

Well, you just gave away the ending there. I think once a poll had been started for every faction it would have ended with "Now which one is the worst?"

I have to wonder what exactly the point of all this is, though, if you aren't interested in feedback or even really discussing the topic. It's literally just "Here's a poll, yes or no?". You don't care if there's room for more "grey" answers, you don't care what anyone's reasoning or logic behind the voting is, just vote and shut up. If you're just trying to prove something or make a point then it's completely lost on me.

I hate to admit it, but take away Wave Serpents and Wraithknights, and the Eldar codex isn't cheesy. Obnoxiously powerful compared to most other books, yes, but you don't quite cross the boundary into "Cheesy" until you add in the two mentioned units.

There are Eldar players and then there are people who must win with plastic toy soldier players.

There are Eldar players and then there are people who must win with plastic toy soldier players who are also flavor of the month/year and will drop them just like they don't use Tau no more.

There are SM players, and there are people who must win with plastic toy solider players

There are CSM, who play because they actually like their faction they play.

Cheesy is when you just spam the best unit or combo.
Playing Eldar doesn't automatically mean you do these things, so no: The Eldar are not cheesy.
Some players and/or their lists are cheesy though.

300 points for a close combat unit that can move 12" is cheesy?
The Codex has some cheesy stuff, like Flyer-spam, AB-spam and Wraiths, but a 300-point CC-monster isn't one of them.

Yes.

Yes he is, lol.

And no, that wouldn't serve the purpose. He wants attention. You can't do that by blowing your wad all in one place.

Marneus Calgar is referred to as "one of the Imperium's greatest tacticians" and he treats the Codex like it's the War Bible. If the Codex is garbage, then how bad is everyone else?

It's the 12" move with fly-over attacks on an AV13-shielded chariot that benefits from the 3++ of the Overlord, where you can play all sorts of games with hit allocation to ensure complete invulnerability to small arms and tank some of the AT hits to the Lord to avoid AT guns hitting the Chariot and usually only risking one wound (with a 3++ to deflect) on the Lord, and can return to play again if the Lord goes down, and is effectively immune to grenades due to hitting frontal armor unless that's been taken down.

They're hugely gimmicky and I've yet to see one fail to more than earn its investment back.

Just to clarify; they are all separated as I want the discussions to be separate as if all of them were together then there would be too many discussions going on and it would likely get too crowded (like that Tyranids tactics thread which was way too busy. You'd have some people talking about Eldar, some about Tau, others saying random crap and so on.

Why? What is so cheesy about them? What makes them cheesy?

They are not cheesy. If one is being used only does it make it cheesy? No. So therefore Wave Serpents are not cheesy but the people who decide to use 3, 4, 5 or more of them.

er everything about it - its stupidly fast, felixble and durable, way better than the Falcon and has immensely powerful weapons for use against its opposite numbers on the battlefield - one may be playble against as one cheesy unit can usually be ignored or survived as you say mutiples are simply not unless faced with equal cheese - hence its cheesy..........
