With Carnifexes popping up so (relatively) cheap on eBay, how many Carnifexes are too many?

I got 6 already, and am mulling making it 9 to have a maxed out CAD Carnifex-wise. Is that overboard?

Is it overboard? Yes.

Is it awesome? Yes.

I am forced to vote for "I can never have enough carnifexes". It may not be the most competitive option, but it's got to be pretty scary to fight against :p

You can run 18 in a double FOC list...

Go unbound and you can have an army of Fexes (just take them all individually so they don't eat each other).

19. Don't forget about OOE.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

I've thought about the double FOC thing, but the prospect of buying 3 more is friendlier to me at the moment than 12!

We don't really play Unbound locally...however with all those formations you can still take 18....on top of a maxed out CAD HS of 9....so that's 27 in a Battle-forged army. Then add another 9 in another formation. What points limit?

Carnis are still one of the most iconic of Gws creations. More of them. More I say.

I'm currently selling 2 old-school metal screamer killers, and a plastic one that is built, but I still have all the spare sprue pieces.

Only mentioning it in case any of this is useful to you lol. 3 more carni's would get you closer to the 18 you clearly need

I don't play Nids but I would field as many Carnifexes as I could fit. They aren't ridiculously overpowered but they are imposing and look awesome. I would shake the hand of the guy who fielded a fex army against me.

Old school screamer fexes look awsome. Those who carry 2 tl devourers with blw, who look like they have the shriveled hands off scary movie 3... do not.
Imo.

Yeah, I could never get into the look of 2x Devourers. Look at my mean nasty beast with tiny little guns! I think the forgeworld variants are a modest improvement, but not worth the high $. Some of the conversions I've seen for that loadout are pretty nice.

I don't usually see folks running that many Carnifexes, my regular 'Nid opponents take a slightly more diverse approach to their armies. At least in what models they take, the armies don't vary much.

Buy as many carnifexes as your credit card allows, then take out some more credit cards and buy more carnifexes

Carnifexes are awesome and the model that sold me on 40K and Tyranids. I've got 5 already and only self-control, money and wanting to paint stuff I own first before buying more is stopping me from buying all the Carnifexes.

Damn, I kind of wish I hadn't checked on eBay, they *are* reasonably cheap nowadays it seems.

Yup.....thank you Shield of Baal box set. Be warned though. If he Carnifez is from that box set, it will come with an oversized oval base, so if you don't want to go along with GWs new basing decisions, or if you want your new Caenifex bases to match your existing CCarnifex bases, you'll have to find some of the dreadnought sized bases.

Carnifexes are awesome. It would be cool to have 30 of them.

With all the new Nid Monstrous Creatures, having 18 Carnicies, (Carnifexen?) they would just look like a brood of gaunts.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Man it would be funny to see a board filled with carnifexs though.

Huh cool tip thanks for that. I think I have one of the newer design and two of the older style (old one eye and regular).

A hugafex (Hugging a Cadian Guardsmen)

I've got 9 + A metal OOE and a converted plastic OOE. You can never have enough! Also use the Tyrannofexe's Fleshborer Hive as 2 TL Devoures coupled with some large Scything Talons. It's a good way to make the Dakkafex look more imposing.

I love Fexes... they look awesome, they are awesome. Dakkafex or even assaulty-fex in a Pod is just too delicious.

Depends on the points, but in a 2k game, I think anything above 10 would be cheesy.

This is silly. Who would buy so many of a pricey model which can only be taken in modest numbers in average circumstances...?

Im most of the way through building my first killa kan... Even though I know they aren't optimal, and spending points on them will probably make me lose games... They're just awesome little models.

Which is probably why GW keep their rules bad. Cos they know people will buy them anyway -.-
