Subject: Forge World Books: Volume 8 compatible with 6/7 ed.?

Because I got some FW Ork stuff for my birthday, I wondered if "IMPERIAL ARMOUR VOLUME EIGHT - RAID ON KASTOREL-NOVEM" is one of the 6/7 edition books? I'm unsure because AFAIK they call the books "Second Edition" if the rules got updated ... this, of course, isn't the case for newer books, which got the new rules system anyway.
So my question is: would that book need a second edition, or is it ready to go as it is?
(Sorry if this is a non-issue. I'm not familiar with 5th edition, only having returend to the hobby recently – AFAIK the vehicle rules got changed somewhat between 5 and 6.)

The book is up for sale with a limited number left available:
It's a gamble - either they're discontinuing for good or preparing a 2nd edition...

its actually 5th. so yes it will "need" a second edition.
However almost every unit in there was updated with a free PDF to 6th for the dread mob list.
campaign is great and fluff is fun, Plus there are a couple units in there not in the DM list but easily converted to 7th.

Thanks for the answers.
OK, I'll have to think about it ... getting the book now and working with printed pages / manual updates or waiting for the 2nd edition (bargain+gamble=purchase, I guess). Hmmm ...

well they still need a second for book 5 6 and 7 first... so I wouldnt expect a second edition for another 2-3 years

Its interesting to note that after they released Imperial Armour 4 Second Edition they released Imperial Armour 13, which covers a lot of the crunch section of the Vraks books, I'm wondering if they might be planning on releasing a condensed Vraks omnibus rather than updating the individual volumes.

I can tell you that the Elysians army list in vol. 8 is obsolete, it's been superseded by the one in vol. 3 v2 and the D99 force in vol. 4 v2 ad the Dread Mob army list in vol. 8 has been superseded by the 7e update Dread Mob army list on the Forge World website.

Actually the dread mob .pdf update is from 6th edition, though it's mostly still relevant for 7th.
Also some of the stuff from Vol.8 has also had updates in Apocalypse II, which includes the rulings for using them in standard 40k games.
I think for the most part you're better off with apocalypse II, and the dreadmob pdf. Though I still refer to Vol8 on occasion, so maybe try and get a second hand copy?
