This, This is....Wow, Im with frazzled, feth NY
Talk about a bad education.

Three 9-year-old students in upstate New York plotted in December to kill their fourth grade teacher with hand sanitizer, according to a police report.

The report, obtained by WLTX 19 in Buffalo, said the conniving classmates in Elba, a small town between Buffalo and Rochester, told fellow students they were going to kill their teacher right before winter break “by putting antibacterial products around the classroom.”

The Elba Elementary School teacher is highly allergic to hand sanitizer and banned it from the classroom, so the students planned to poison her with it.

The names of the students and the teacher have not been released.

The pupils’ plot unraveled when a student who heard about it told parents, who referred it to the school board.

Chief Deputy Jerome Brewster of the Genesee County Sheriff’s Department told the Daily News police found little motive for the murder plot beyond the fact that the students said the teacher “is mean.”

He told the Daily News police considered the school scheme “idle chatter” and did not charge the students with any crimes. Police referred the case to the school district, which is treating the threats “very seriously,” Brewster said.

The Batavia Daily News reports two of the students were suspended, but the school board wouldn’t release any other information about the case, citing privacy of student records.

Ah yes, 9 years old. What's that? around halfway through grade school right? I distinctly remember daydreaming about many of my grade school teachers checking into the cemetery. Don't recall if I ever made a plan for it.

Going to chalk this up under "grade school kids" and move on. Kids can be vicious little buggers because they haven't learned the whole "social acceptability/consequences" thing so well yet.

Like watching other people play video games (badly) while blathering about nothing in particular? Check out my Youtube channel: joemamaUSA!

Huh. In my day (and class, no less) they waited until they were 13-14 to try this. Weak.

Only it was bleach in the coffee. Not sure how worse than suspension didn't happen...

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

Looking at the article was this actually a murder plot, or just a practical joke to see 'mean' teacher get a nasty rash.

It's very hard to kill someone with an allergen, but what the children intended the effect to be is the issue not the likely actual effect.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

I'm pretty sure half of all schoolchildren want to get rid of their teacher. Why is this even news?

Depends on the severity of the allergy and exactly where you are "infected".

Any reaction which inflames the respiratory system can cause suffocation.

I seriously doubt this particular incident would have caused that, unless they spiked the teacher's lunch or something. And I'm sure hand sanitizer isn't good for normal people to drink, much less someone allergic to it.

Also, the teacher may have noticed a problem fairly quickly (like when people are around things they're allergic to), perhaps enough to get out of the room before something serious happened. The problem is intent, and the fact that these are 9 year old children. I wonder if they watch south park?

My 4th grade plan involved a tripwire, a pendulum, 42 sharpened No.2 pencils, duct-tape, superglue, a gallon of margarine and a skateboard. When I was in grade-school we put some life in our murder plans. Some imagination. Personally, I feel that the general lack of creativity in this 9 year old's plan reflects poorly on our educational system and the state of animated entertainment in this new millennium. It begs the question: was an anvil even considered?

No one saying it's already too late for these kids and they should just be executed? I'm surprised at you, Dakka.

On the real though, while that's messed up, it's also not hideously uncommon. I think it's also highly unlikely the kids would have followed through with it.

Pretty much...

God, I remember in 7th or 8th grade, there was about a 50-50 split in the school between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Ottawa Senators (hey, it's Canada, hockey's our thing). Our principal was bragging on the morning announcements because Toronto had just beaten Ottawa out of the playoffs, and my friends and I decided that we needed some revenge. The principal had a Toronto Maple Leafs teddy bear in his office, so I suggested that we hang the fether. At lunch time, my friends snuck into his office and hung the bear from the ceiling and then waited. He was pretty mad about it all, but we thought it was hilarious... of course, now that I'm older I can see the potential for unintended implications ("We got your bear, now we're gonna get YOU!", plus that it was just generally insensitive about a sensitive subject). Still... one of the funnier bits of mischief that we got up to.

Anyway, the point of all that: kids do things without really thinking about the real consequences or implications because they have a much more narrow and simple worldview.

Meh, just more kids playing Grand Theft Auto. Seriously, why do parents let their kids play that game? I was on GTA Online yesterday, and I talked to an EIGHT-YEAR-OLD BOY. Seriously, you can make your character into a stripper in that game. And the strippers ACTAULLY GET NAKED. I guess that what i'm saying is... parents are slowed and are making their children slowed.

To quote a fictional character... "Let's make this fun!"

If I was a parent, I'd be more concerned about the violence then the boobs.
Boobs bring joy, setting a homeless man on fire doesn't...
I mean when I was a kid and saw boobs on tv, there was only joy.

But if you set a man on fire, he's warm for the rest of his life.

Yeah, those urban liberal areas, kids seem to be more likely to go through with it then just talk about it.

My parents didn't like vulgar or violent movies, but had no real care for movies with nudity.
I remember my mom telling me that I'd definitely repeat the things I heard in shows like South Park, so didn't want me watching it.

Excessive use of swearing, drugs, and nudity were the no-go's for my parents. Violence not so much.

And this report from the University of Chicago shows that there are hundreds of cases of youths committing heinous violent crimes per year, in the city of Chicago alone.

Telling kids they're not allowed to watch South Park is cruel and unusual punishment.

I think I was 13 when I started watching the show. Maybe 14.

That was also the year the show started though.
