A pdf was made available to backers.

"Orkses never lost a battle. If we win we win, if we die we die fighting so it don't count. If we runs for it we don't die neither, cos we can come back for annuver go, see!"

I dig how in a setting where giant, muscled fungus men ride Mad Max cars and use their own teeth as currency, the concept of little engineering dudes with beards was considered a step too far down the aisle of silliness.

Very Sad - I got some Product and it all seemed great - but yeah lost fair bit of money on this :(

I can afford it but really feel for those who can't and got shafted by whichever /both companies that screwed up what did indeed seem to be just a pre-order thing.

Likely see various stuff up on ebay I guess but no chance of getting my local group to try it now.....

Its quite sad whats happened but I dont think its the end of Dust yet.

I think they will be going straight to retail, and hoping they can keep the game alive that way.

Not good for those that invested in the kickstarter though, I think its going to be hard getting your money back from battlefront unless Kickstarter get involved. I think FoW is in just as much danger of going down the pan as Dust at this point, in fact I'd say more of a chance as they hold/held the funds from what I've read.

I was really looking forward to this game I picked up the rules and two starters at Christmas, still need to paint them yet though

As they admit to in the above news quote, they have a problem with CONTINUING 50% off fire sales devaluing their products. Who is going to buy (either retailers or customers) anything from their existing line if they can get it for less from the old distributor? I suspect that this will be a zombie game that only lives on through a few dedicated webspaces much like Vor the Maelstrom did for a few years after FASA stopped supporting it. Eventually, though, the inevitable happens.

Is the Operation Babylon all new minis or are they are a mix?

Some of them I've not seen before.

Looking at the Dust Facebook page it looks like they are looking at the next expansion Pacific Theatre.

I think they are mostly if not all new models - they are pretty damn cool -- got my SSU Premium army and they are ace

I was hoping to proxy them as quite a few people are playing Bolt Action here but I am not that keen on the Scale/models and prefer the DUST ones

I picked up a boatload of stuff over Christmas from FFG.
The fact that their stock wasn't picked up as part of the transfer seems like a big mistake. Obviously the packaging would have had to have been replaced but that still a ton of product that you had to know would be let go for much less than retail.

Hoping it doesn't die. Just in terms of plastic miniatures there is so much product there that it's hard to believe that it hasn't found a bigger market than it has so far.

I was just over on their website looking at the new miniatures that are being worked on, these look very nice.

Aaaand now this.

Good lord am I tired of the drama. Really missing the "good 'ol" days of FFG when I could get excited for new releases and have a good feeling of stability untainted by all the drama that has happened since BF got involved.

_Tim?

Edit: yikes, that's huge. Sorry y'all, dunno why it's so large.

Tony Reidy announcing that he's saving this project in partnership with Daniel Mandlebaum would be about the only way for this to get more drama-filled.

I wonder if there is any way to incorporate some prehistoric mammals into a Dust Babylon thread. They would be a nice adjunct to the mechs and give the nazi gorillas someone to play with.

As others have said, there is indeed a contract dispute.

Dust (mostly Paolo) decided that it would look better to air his version of the dispute in public, and make some pretty exaggerated claims against BF.

Very unprofessional on Dust's part, and not going to help solve the problem.

....and lo!.....The Age of Sigmar came to an end when Saint Veetock and his hamster legions smote the false Sigmar and destroyed the bubbleverse and lead the true believers back to the Old World.

I'd be more inclined to give Battlefront the benefit of the doubt if they - oh I don't know, responded to emails and requests for refunds. Or if they'd not shown how massively incompetent they are from the get go with their incredibly bad and laughably inaccurately-named "pledge manager".

Despite Paolo's most recent posting, it looks like this is far from over. I'm not taking BF's ( or anyone's) side, but it will be interesting to see what comes when the company that has handled it's communications professionally states it's case.

I have to say though, that if BF is out of the picture, it does not bode well financially for Dust Studios that there are two entities out there with product that they can dump on the market.

These two both just keep digging that hole deeper, huh?

All of which only serves to bury the games/universe, and does nobody any favours. It's a bit pathetic, really.

The game is clearly as dead as a dodo now, at this point all that's left is soap opera entertainment, the wargaming equivalent of coronation street. Entertaining to watch but little else.

Good luck for the backers getting back some of their money.

Since one of the offending parties is based in HK I am pretty sure that legal action is a non starter. As they consider contracts and the law as a loose guideline more than anything else.

Dust always looked interesting but thankfully I did not back this mess. I would guess the now near continuous fire sales of dust product have killed any future it had. I do not see anyone picking it up.

Your last point is especially laughable and comical, because not only the 7th ed Valkyrie shown dumber things (like being able to throw the troopers without parachutes out of its hatches, no harm done) - Irbis

It does take time for a corpse to decompose.

Unacceptable how both these companies do not care about their customers/ backers and refuse to find a way to honor their responsibilities. They do not deserve our money.

I will continue to fight unit I get my product that I spent $600 on (or get a refund). They can say what they want but both are at fault for screwing their most loyal customers.

Battleground may have screwed their company, but dust has done worse damage to dust by screwing backers. Any smart business would take the hit, send backers the models, and sue battleground for the rest of the cash. This would ensure that people still buy their products which may never happen after the warming community has seen this outrage.

Once you take someone's money (dusts name Is on this too) and don't deliver because of a business disagreement, you are breaking that trust, contract, etc.

Fk them both

Taken at face value Dust cant send the models because Battlefront will not send their Data (who they are, where they live, what they ordered and what they have had already)

but yes this is a big fat disaster that can be laid at both companies doors

Very slow like the initial progression of a minor skin infection to death by gangrene?

Concerned that Conan KS is using these jokers at some point.....

Increasingly seems likely that neither battlefront or dust can afford actual proper legal counsel and my guess is both are financially bad off, in the UK Battlefront just sold a Wargames Illustrated, which effectively robs them of free advertising in it and no long guarantees them so much coverage - bear in mind that a ton of FLGS do not even stock FOW now.

Essentially it's like GW selling White Dwarf. I get the impression that the new owner is going to be very close to Warlord Games which will further hit Battlefront as it exposes more readers to those more widely stocked systems.

You are right, not dying. Dead. Any future it has will be 100% reliant on the fans to forgive this Kickstarter fiasco and pretending Paolo didn't kill off the most popular variation of Dust (Warfare). Not likely.

I think Battlefront can salvage their reputation if they announce they will refund all of the backers. There will be some hard feelings, but I think most backers would eventually forgive them. If they don't or suggest alternative products then they are morons. Some backers have already declared Jihad on them.

Dust Studios may or may not be able to. I think more damage was done to the brand than to either company. Whether backers would buy the stuff they pledged for through a different channel is an unknown. Paolo seems to be his own worst enemy.

At this point BF should just release the backers details to DS, put the ball in their court. The only reason not to is because then they would have no leverage in whatever negotiations are currently failing miserably.
