I'm not complaining that Warlord hasn't released every last thing. I'm complaining that they're ignoring some of the more important parts of the war - i.e. not one release from Hungary or Romania - in favor of what are essentially minor details units (like the Volksturm). At the rate that Warlord is going, they'll have every last exhaustive option out for Germany before they get a basic rifle squad out for Romania or Hungary. And both of those nations (Romania in particular) had much larger armies, that played more significant roles, than some of the other nations that Warlord is selling.
Well, as I'm sure you're aware, German stuff sells better. That's partly due to our fixation on them as the big bad of WWII, partly due to the focus on Late War, partly due to the fact that every allied nation that fought in Europe fought Germans, and partly due to a genuinely broad range of units and equipment. Every WWII gaming group, even if only two guys, has a German player, because its the single most useful army to have. Because so many people have Germans, you can always sell a German kit to a huge chunk of the market. The Volksturm are a great example: Yes, it's a force from last few months, but a German player is more likely to buy that and add it to his collection than he is to say, start a Dutch or Romanian second army.
And tagging Warlord as ignoring important parts of the war is a little unfair, if vaguely worded. This is a company with a small but servicealbe range of Winter War Finns and Early War Belgians. That they've made those minor powers, but not Hungarians or Romanians, could show that they intend to fill in the gaps, it could show that they've learned that minor powers don't sell, or it could show that nobody in the company is particularly interested in pushing them through (the Forgeworld effect).
Look, I get that it sucks when a company doesn't deliver what you would buy. But it's probably not due to stupidity or malice.

I'd much rather have near-complete if not totally complete armies released before a smattering of choices. As it stands, with my Polish force, there's still a bunch of units that have not been released. It's pretty hard to play French when only one artillery piece has been released. The BEF as well! How about the Elefantino for the Italian Airborne - pretty important piece of kit!
So, yes, I'd much rather see a Last Levy box set released with Volksturm and Hitler Youth, and to finish out Germany's available units, before Warlord released say one pack of ten infantry and a mortar for Romanians and left it alone for a year. Obviously the US, UK, USSR, and Germany are the Big Four players in WW2 and should have all of their missing items done first. And when they release Romanians, to release as much stuff as possible in a few release waves so that most/all of the units are represented. Hell, I'll probably buy a Romanian reinforced platoon because it sounds awesome! But I wouldn't buy it if there were only a few models available.

Funny you should say that, Tailgunner -- it's far more accurate than you might have expected: Judgedoug is running a very large Battle of Berlin scenario at our LGS tomorrow afternoon and this IS-2 will be rolling out to crush the fascists! I'll try to snap a picture of old 213 in action for you lads!

Ok thanks. I could really use a set or three of those things right now. They look very versatile.

Just not many of them... need to make each one count... need good gunnery optics...
Also a two part shell, so slow fring. One shell a minute till they upgraded the A19 to the D25T.
And the standard load out was 8 AP and 20 HE... Good gun for HE work, which really was its role a as breakthrough tank.

Doug and I have bought them up during various FFG and Miniature Market sales. He has a ton and I have three myself. You can find them for quite low prices now and again. This is exactly how I used it yesterday. Jerry kept his armour well back into the city proper for most of the 7+ hours we played but consistently threatened our right flank with a Panther. While the T-34/85s covered that, the IS-2 pretty much single handedly covered our left, charging up and obliterating Volksturm squads cowering in the rubble.

That IS-2 was the best painted model on the table. And it also obliterated several units, haha.

I missed this - great to see the IS-2 in its natural habitat. Close-ups of the models would be great, if you took any.

Those pics are the closest close ups I have. It's just the resin model WLG bought from whomever so you're not missing a lot of detail.

Doug and I have bought them up during various FFG and Miniature Market sales. FYI MM is having a DUST liquidation sale and these building kits are going for $14.98.

Good to know. I'll probably have to pick up a few sets. From your pictures they seem a bit larger than Bolt Action 28mm. How well do they scale?

The doorways look huge because I think they are meant to represent blown out double doors, grand entrances for big city buildings. The window height seemed perfect, however.
