Another sneak peek at a pic from Blitzkrieg, this one we based on a real pic... The River! We often spend time looking through books for inspiration from photos and decided to try and recreate this one for the book!

That picture (the one you guys set up) is really inspiring. I love seeing stuff like that in rulebooks because it really motivates me.

Thanks Manchu, so nice to hear that.

I mean that sincerely, as we have had several comments that we 'waste space' with 'silly pictures'. So its lovely to hear a positive.

For us, wargaming is all about the visual effect, if the pics can inspire others, then they have done their job!

That mindset is foreign to me. One of the most fulfilling moments in wargaming to me is seeing it all come together -- painted miniatures with the scenery and terrain, whether its my work or someone else's. The production values of the BG books are through the roof and I get that kind of feeling browsing through them. Whenever I look through one, my feeling is "I want to play this again soon!"

It's kind of mind-boggling that any tabletop wargamer would complain about fantastic photos like these in a rulebook. If you're not interested in recreating battles in miniature, then why are you playing with model soldiers? It seems to me that this mindset has crept into wargaming via the tournament scene. I first encountered it in WH40k, which has a well-established 'competitive' player base, but I'd never come across it in historical wargaming. Perhaps we need a 'competitive' version of every ruleset, where the playing pieces are coloured blocks of wood, and the rulebooks have nothing but rules.

That said, Big P - there are an awful lot of threads about this book now, and it's starting to look a bit like advertising...

Well will be an AAR later too... with even more pics of models. Wont be any under hand advertising in that!

I wont mention the pre order though to save your sanity!

Seriously though, if anyone is offended by it, im happy to delete the thread.

'Offended' - no. It's just a lot of threads about the same thing. It's also nice to have all the photos in one thread. I'm seriously impressed by your scenery - no complaints about that!

QFT! Please, waste some space with silly pictures. War gaming Is a visual hobby and spectacle at its root.

As for advertising, as long as you are bringing something new to each thread, then I don't mind.

Yup if you are not telling a story with the models as you play you are not doing it right.....and I'm not talking about "forging the narrative"

Beautiful pics keep doing stuff like that it's not wasted space Piers.
