To be fair it is actually a unique and innovative idea, so they're quite justified in patenting it. Much more so than some of the other things they've tried to claim in recent years...

Looking forward to the reviews from you guys. They look like they have potential.

It looks like the prices are pretty reasonable comparing to the competition and are way better than the old carrying cases. I've been looking for a way to transport my Ravenwing army that I may never use, this might be my first GW purchase in quite a while.

Anyone know if the dimensions of the foam is the same as the old cases?

At a glance it looks like just the outter parimiters are glued on a 20-25mm base pad.

The zigzag walls don't look glued down due to them stretching from 25mm to 65mm hence the thick base pad and outter parimiters taking all the work with no support from the walls. I'll have a closer look when I'm on a computer.

As a side note they only store 200 marines, my one can hold 600 for £56 or 1200 marines for £100 and we both use the same foam but my case is sturdy cardboard.

I was talking with my wife about having to buy a case for my new SoB army. (All infantry, all the time) I was dreading having to fit them into Battlefoam trays (I used the Dreamforge bases which are 32mm), this could be a very good alternative. I never had to complain about my GW cases.

Now if only I could find somewhere to buy it...

Cardboard is fine for storage inside your house, and sometimes if you're putting them in your car, etc (I have a number of KR card cases, and might have bought some of yours, once upon a time). Anything more bumpy than that and you're better off with something more sturdy than cardboard for the case. GW's current line of cases have been great, and I'd hope the new ones will be just as good.

Interesting. I look forward to seeing these show up in the local store so I can examine one in person...

We may end up buying one...We really need something for when we play smaller games, like kill teams or low point escalation games..

Lugging one huge battlefoam PACK bag around for two people's kill team games is ridiculous. and I'm not carrying my models around in a cardboard box.

+1 for being cautiously impressed by what I've seen of those new cases. I'm going to find it very difficult to resist getting one of the big'uns.

We, referring to myself and my fiance. I'm the one hauling all the stuff to the store from home during the week. (He meets me there from work).

But can I fit a monolith in it and still have room.....?

It's easy to assume that people arguing an interpretation you disagree with are just looking for an advantage for themselves... But it's quite often not the case.

These actually look really nice and at a decent price as well. I almost wish I had a reason to move my minis around so I could pick one up!

The zigzag inserts seem a decent solution to GW's recent wild diversity in base sizes, which presumably is the reason for the change.

But you'll still need to do something to handle models which are also taller than usual, e.g. have a separate tray for all 'monstrous creature'-sized or walker-sized models. Not a huge problem (and less of a problem than with the old cases), but still worth thinking about when deciding on a model's pose during kit assembly. (I've always avoided 'waving both arms in the air' poses for this very reason.)

Well, I still can't see them working well for a lot of the newer models with thin easily-breakable plastic bits like Nagash, Bloodthirster, etcetera

14500 yen that is reasonable for Japanese prices, color me intrigued.

Makes me worry that we're going to get a repeat of the Realm of Battleboard, where the price suddenly doubles a week before release.

Well if they turn out nicely I might have a transport bag for my Perry KoW army.

Although I don't think it'll handle thin plastic bits well? I have a lot of plastic pikes and lances after all.

Pre-orders are up, and (in the US anyway) prices are as listed.

I have concerns about how the zigzag foam design will protect models during transport.

I like the idea of the trays for infantry models but have concerns about larger fiddly models like my Flyrants. The video shows a rhino, Nagash, etc but I cant see these supporting some of the larger creatures without risking minor breakage. Also in the video the plastic lid flexes a lot which leads me to believe the plastic is thin. May be nothing but I need to see these in person...the problem is where hehe.
