Hamath Kraatos is Minotaurs special character from IA:12 that replaces a sergeant in a devastator squad.

He has Preferred Enemy (Infantry, Jump Infantry, Jet Pack Infantry, Bikes, Jet Bikes).

He has a heavy bolter that can also use a 48" s6 ap3 attack

What guns do you give his devastators?

I'm thinking missile launchers, but I really don't know.

I may be wrong, but missile launcher seems like the worst Heavy weapon ever. Why that? It's not good against vehicles neither against infantry.

With his preferred enemy i'd be tempted to say you'd want to be shooting large volume of fire weapons that are designed for killing infantry or T<5. I'm not sure what you can equip devs with but i'd assume you can give them heavy bolters right? Considering he has a heavy bolter seems to make sense? can they take autocannons?

Your preferred enemy makes it clear to maximise his usage he wants to target non-vehicle units, so go with the best anti-infantry choice?

Favourite Game: When your Warboss on bike wrecks 3 vehicles simply by HoW - especially when his bike is a custom monowheel.

Plasma Cannons? Seems to get the most out of the PE.

Definitely Plasma Cannons - get the most of out Preferred Enemy.

Heavy Bolters are meh all around, even with Preferred Enemy, and PE doesn't really do all that much for Missile Launchers. Lascannons are obviously best aimed at vehicles.

Tier 1 is the new Tactical.

Ah ofc, re-roll scatter, yeh that could be brutal especially considering their AP2 and doubling out a lot of things.

Preferred Enemy doesn't affect scatter rolls, though I thought/ Only lets you re-roll 1s to-hit and to-wound.

Dont tell that to the other side of that massive "ability to reroll" camp. thats a big can of YMDC worms.

Heavy Bolters.

They're actually very, very effective against Necrons.

Does he get three shots, or just one?

Go with plasma cannons. PE lets you reroll Gets Hot and you'll have the AP to force bikes to jinx and the S7 still wounds most of your targets on a 2+ rerollable.

Does it? I know Twin-linked lets you do it, but that's a specific exception. The Gets Hot! die is not a roll to hit, after all.

Yup. The Gets Hot rule states "If a model has the ability to re-roll its rolls 'To Hit' (including because of BS6+ or the Twin-linked special rule), a wound is only suffered if the To Hit reroll is also a 1; it may also re-roll Gets Hot results of 1 weapons that do not roll To Hit." PE grants a reroll of To Hit rolls and so triggers the second clause of Gets Hot.

For his rules, and being anti infantry, Heavy bolters work well. I have a friend who runs this guy and he loads up all heavy bolters in a pod and eats everything that isn't teq. I have seen him shred marines because he hits on 3s and wounds on 3s and that is 15 shots a turn... true math hammer says you will kill 1.9 MEQ a round, but i have seen him winnow tac squads and decimate GEQ

I'll go heavy bolter as well, only to synergize with his.

Or if you'd prefer going that single shot at 48'' every time, go lascannon

It would be a nice cheap unit to have them as H bolters (and damnit would it look cool) i still feel plasmas just overall benefit the most.
