Subject: Brettonians - er - Basileans

Hi,
I jumped in on Mantic's KoW 2.0 kickstarter. I'm getting a Basilean starter army. Firstly, how do the minis in this line compare to GW's Brettonians? Could I build an army in either game with a collection featuring either sets of miniatures? Does anyone know whether the info in Basilean Legacy will be in the new rulebook? Is the fluff in that book extensive or just an overview?
Thanks,
-Bill

I believe the Basliean Legacy material will all be incorporated into the new book, but until it actually comes out and we get thorough reviews, I can't say for sure.
The minis are mostly different in style. Basilean Paladins and Knights would work well for Brettonians, but the elohi, sisters and cat cavalry don't really have a place in a Brettonian army so far as I know.
The plastic Men at Arms are considered some of Mantic's weakest minis, but there are fairly simple ways to fix them depending on your tastes, some of which you can read about here.

I don't know what Brettonians look like, but I would assume (based on other Mantic/GW comparisons) that they will look very chunky next to Mantic figures. Although having said that, the Men at Arms are a little oversized, so they might fit in a little better.

“Good people are quick to help others in need, without hesitation or requiring proof the need is genuine. The wicked will believe they are fighting for good, but when others are in need they’ll be reluctant to help, withholding compassion until they see proof of that need. And yet Evil is quick to condemn, vilify and attack. For Evil, proof isn’t needed to bring harm, only hatred and a belief in the cause.” |

I'm planning on picking up a 2.0 rulebook when they hit retail and seeing if I can make a decent Basilean list from my Brettonian army. I figured pegasus knights would make good counts as elohi.

Good call. I suppose cat cavalry could be used as questing knights or grail knights.

Brettonian Men-At-Arms figures are actually very, very nice models. Far better than the Basilean ones in every way (IMO). I bought a box to convert them into an Inquisitorial retinue years ago, and then never got them done. I'm still in two minds about whether to follow through on that or paint them as actual Brettonians for KoW and fantasy gaming.
