Im getting back into WHF (stoped plaing during 6th edition) i also play 40k.
Looking for any information on new army or game rules.
Playing Wood Elfs no reason other than I like their look.
What would be good starter models for WE army.
What do i need to watch out for as WE (both my army and my enemys).

Your positioning, WEs cannot survive getting charged most of the time.
Your enemies shooting, WEs again can't take hits all that well.

What would be good starter models for WE army.:
Glade guard form your core. Wild riders are awesome

You can now buy enchanted arrows. The current best are hagbane & trueflight. Someone did an analysis & they are about on-par but trueflight usually has a slight edge.
9th is coming out soon.
You can now field a combined WE, HE, DE list as a host of the eternity king.

Honestly, given End Times, I'm of the belief that the only "safe" models are the ones that came out during End Times: Glotkin, Daemons (safe as 40k crossover/unique), Blight Knights, Wrathmongers, Bloodthirster (new and see demons), Nagash, Thanquol, Verminlord, new rat-ogres, etc.

I'd suggest waiting out Summer to see if the 9th release actually happens and what it entails (and people selling armies if it entails things they don't like).

Depends on who you ask, really! But the fact is, we have very little information that's certain. It does seem like it might be a very different game, which is why this might be not the best time to get back in.

We don't know gak. There are wildly varrying rumours but the most recent rumour puts 9th at the end of May release. I'd say you're safe buying glade guard as any way you look at it there will be an elf archer unit. Also wild riders are probably safe as you could just call them "knights" and it is very likely that elves will have some form of knight.

Who knows. The rumours are all over the place. Reading between the lines I get the sense that the starter set will contain rules for a skirmish game, with BRB to follow containing updated rules for our standard mass battle game. The alternative is simply too insane to consider: that GW has been pushing out army updates at a rapid pace with the full knowledge that they will be scrapped once the planned skirmish game hits.

Wood Elves *JUST* got a new book. The idea that they will be excised from the game so soon thereafter is ludicrous as far as I'm concerned.

Well the rush may have been because those books were already in the works & rather than scrap them they rushed them out to make any money they could. Seems odd but then again it wouldn't surprise me given GWs magic conch style of decision making.
