Sure, I guess that's an option. I suppose it would just be easier to rip them from the internet like anything else rules-wise, but it doesn't change what GW is trying to do.

I'm can't get upset at GW for throwing a little something extra in for anyone willing to buy 5 knights, when I'll get the datalsate for the investment of the time it takes to do a google search and print it.

There is just no point to the rage against it.

It'd be even easier if GW just, you know, sold reasonably priced rules available to everyone.

But that's crazy talk.

The next logical step for this ridiculousness is to make the limited edition versions of the codex with different rules, so people who buy more (limited, of course) get better rules than the plebs who buy the regular version.

Yeah, but that's fine, cause you can just pirate it, right?

The rules for the unit themselves

I'm not raging against this, I just think it's a lousy move in a series of lousy moves GW has made in an attempt to create exclusivity in a game whose biggest strength is ubiquity.

The hilarious thing is it's not even exclusivity in terms of models. It's an exclusive PIECE OF PAPER. There is no reason I can think of to make this exclusive when you're using kits you're going to sell in the future anyway. They are not selling the models at a reduced price, just adding a piece of paper (hell it might even just be a digital document).

CSMs are under selling, that's why a bunch of dated sprues were included in the assassins game.

They just tossed Chaos Space Marine players a few bones with Codex: Khorne Daemonkin and the Assasins Board Game.

To be honest, I thought people were crazy when they said they'd start redoing the 6E hardcover codex, until the Eldar Craftworlds codex came out. Now I fully expect Chaos Space Marines to get a new dex within a year.

you cant find the rules becasue they are ONLY available in that "exclusive" web bundle. hahah WOW.. even i call foul on this.

But agian releasing knights agian is an obvious money grab. I had hoped they would at least expand it to have chaos knights and various other factions "knight sized" units or something.

well, until ONE guy buys it and it gets posted up everywhere

I wonder how many people are out there who'd buy this. There are a lot of people who've spent $1000 on this hobby, but there should by quite few who'd spend that much on impulse buying.

The IK's look awesome. I'm very tempted to throw down for one, but I dont know if my painting skills are capable of doing it any real justice. I think the price is worthwhile, and I'm going to buy the codex no matter what, but I'm just intimidated by such a large and impressive model.

I bought one of the old ones and did alright, you have to look real close to see the brush strokes, my painting has improved sicne then so I'm eager to put it to the test

I don't get why they made exclusive rules. Still, I'm hoping the internet will do the right thing and make them available to everyone anyway.

As an ork player, I'm just totally jealous. The Knight Gallant is a close combat beast that can still bring some valuable shooting in the form of triple krak missiles and a meltagun, or a heavy stubber and a whirlwind rocket launcher. And then there's the Knight Crusader, which is basically what I had hoped the Gorka/Morkanauts would be, but better. Oh and the Gallant throws stuff, kinda like a klawstompa used to.

Man, I wouldn't even mind if Codex Orks: Gorkamorkanauts became a thing if it meant the 'nauts wouldn't suck anymore.

They still look good aesthetically too. Lovin' the Gallant and his powerfist (although every knight can take it, but in my mind it belongs to that variant). The Crusader is beautiful with all of its cannons. The Warden is a bit 'meh' compared to those two for me. I guess I just like lots of shooty or lots of choppy to a bit of both.

Wait... in the year 2015 GW really thinks they can make exclusive rules? Srsly? How disconnected are they from the wold around them?

Thought for the day: Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.
30k Ultramarines: 2000 pts
Bolt Action Germans: ~1200 pts
AOS Stormcast: Just starting.

exclusive rules are stupid anyway, if only 1000 people ever had access to the formation it'd swiftly become de facto banned

The Klaw Stompa still does throw any vehicle it destroys in close combat.

In fact its abilities are actually superior there as it can throw ANY vehicle it wrecks in close combat and all of them at that.

The Knight Gallant is limited to just Monstrous Creatures and regular Vehicles.

Isn't the klawstompa outdated by now? It's from the first Apocalypse book and that has since been re-done.

I realize the klawstompa's throwing was better, but it was also an apoc only unit back in the day. The Gallant seems to do pretty much the same just in regular games.

I guess we all look at our hobbies from different view points. To be honest I don't mind buying a new codex after only one year. Is it optimal, no, but with new models and content I'll be happy. I much prefer this to my Tomb Kings, I got into Kings when they redid them back in the early 90's. Then nothing for more than 10 years.

I spent this morning shooting competitively with a gun that's worth more than $3000 and burned about $45 worth of ammo, for about 5 hours of enjoyment. So $41 for a book I will use for a year seems well valued to me. And there is no doubt they are beautiful books.

I was on my way to become a regular white knight but GW make themselves impossible to defend. Rules exclusive to buyers of 785$ bundle, also rules exclusive to buyers of any bundle just expose them. Hey GW if that's one person idea, better fire that idiot asap, release the rules for free and make a public apology because otherwise your rules are a confirmed wortless pile of crap not worh spitting on.

I'd hardly call the new Knight release 'new models and new content'. Its an extra sprue for an existing kit and a codex with about a dozen new options all told.

I just finished an afternoon on my half a million dollar yacht and plan on taking my own helo for a spin this evening.

None of that makes GW's pricing and codex replacements/cycle any less ridiculous or above reproach.

Some hobbies are more expensive. Comparing them is entirely useless. Instead, compare GW and their prices to something similar, like another wargame.
