Hey All,

Did I achieve TMM and a realistic look? My next step is to do blues on the orbs, vents, and glyphs to give a nice glow feel. Please give me some feedback

I'll bite: what's TMM?

If TMM is painting something a silver color, then you have achieved the desired effect.

True Matalic Metal, instead of Non-Metalic Metal?

Looks like brushed steel. Which is good and all... but rather plain.

I think that looks like a good base for the blues you mention, but right now the overall effect is diminished by having no other colours.
Pretty sure it's gonna look a right cracker though, well done.

To get TMM/NMM to work you need to pick a light source and use that to base your paint transitions on.

Currently it just looks like light is coming from all around it - which it will do but there will be a sun or other strong light source that will be shinning on specific points more strongly. Also you may want to think about adding in some sky colour on the top half and ground colour on the bottom, clean metal will reflect those colours, unless you are dirtying it up after.

I am having a difficult time with figuring the above out on a vehicle. I can't find a good tip or tutorial video on vehicle TMM. I'm going for a mechanical themed army. Silver tide thinking. Any suggestions on where to find more tips or just information in general?

Also, it's difficult for me to see the transitions from ironbreaker to runefang steel.

Well its metal all right..

Not sure if the brush nickle look is what you are going for.

Now if you REALLY want to get into crazy metalics then i would look into airbrush and alclad2 stuff.

There chromes are nuts

I am not looking for a very reflective metal. More of a worn out, aged metallic body.

Looks amazing with the glow. Think you missed a few spots though, such as part of the circle in the middle, or was that intentional?

Which circle?

Er...the second...glyph? on the side that you added the glow effect too. Some parts of it are dimmer than other sections.
Sorry, not sure how to describe it, and it's a minor thing that I'm just being weird about. This is why you don't browse forums while half asleep I guess...
If you want, I can use Paint or something to circle the part I was asking about, but it looks amazing either way. I was just curious.

What's next after the blue, or is that the final step?

Please do. that would help me out on seeing what you see.

I still need to finish the right side of the model. I am going to use Caledon blue and mix it with white instead of lothern to see which I prefer.

Then I have 3 barges, 2 arks, 1 dooms ark, monolith, 50warriors, 6 wraiths, and a spyder to do next....lol

In short, no you didn't achieve a TMM look. Painting true metallics requires the use of shadows and highlights to give a convincing and realistic metallic effect and is more or less the same technique as NMM, except you use metallic paints. The best way to go about it to use glazes of different colors (reds, blues, browns, etc) to mimic how metal looks in the real world all while upping the contrast between the shadows in the highlights. The problem is that it is kind of difficult to do on a model like the one you are painting. One thing you could do color modulation or panel highlighting; neither of those techniques are "realistic," but they produce a fantastic looking model when done right.

Beautiful, if I played necrons I would be proud to field it.

Any advice on the glow effect? I can never seem to achieve it.

Only thing I can say is keep working at it and watch a bunch of videos on painting. I still don't think I achieved it personally.

The lighting is pretty darn good.

Better then the ones where they over airbrush the gak out of it.

Your's looks years ahead of my attempts lol. I do realise that these painting techniques are all about practice. I understand what I'm supposed to do but these damn claws of mine have trouble recreating what I see lol.

I meant those parts where the glow effect doesn't seem to be there. I was just wondering if that was on purpose. Sorry for the weird question.

This is my next step for the metals. I am just unsure of how they exactly pulled off the look
